Welcome folks, to the new and hopefully improved SytheMonthly newspaper of sorts!
The Community Development Team are looking forward to writing and publishing SytheMonthly on a regular basis from now on!

I'm not one for introductions, so without further ado, enjoy SytheMonthly April 2013.

As of the beginning of the month, new members were selected to join the Community Development Team.
Proudly welcoming our six new members;

Sythe Verified User


There is a new verification service available, identifiable by the rank above.
It's called Sythe Verified User, which costs $5 and currently requires a $25 donor rank for now whilst in the beta stage.

SytheVerified is a program designed to help validate who a user is. While we cannot guarantee someone is who they say they are, we can collect information about them and try to build a profile. Then, should they scam, we can provide that profile to law enforcement.

Change to trading reports

Due to the recent spate of hackings causing many Sythe member's skypes to be compromised, there has been a change to the scam report format.
You MUST have a PM from the member on sythe confirming that they are talking to you for the proof to be classed as valid.
ALWAYS request a PM.

Well, how do I even begin to describe 2013 in terms of bans?

The recent spate of Skype hackings started with two staff members, n4n0 and RsProd - which believe you me, were not the last.

These were soon followed by:

Subsequently, each was banned until the situation was sorted out - and it has been.

If you believe your Skype has been hacked, contact a staff member immediately to stop scams taking place.
Then, you want to head over to the Skype LiveChat and get your Skype deactivated. If it was hacked once, chances are it can be hacked again.


Hackings aside, what have you all been up to this month?

Well done Feelgewd, totalling 300 vouches this month! and also to Elena after gaining 400 vouches!

Heeatz, Invocation and I_DONT_BOT got their spam on, totalling 2,000; 1,000 and 7,000 posts respectively.


A well earned TWC removal for both THERSG0D, DiamondStarFall and hernando, congratulations - don't let us regret it!


Congratulations to our very own teh99prayerkid who donated 25$ and earned the next rank!

Congratulations to Superman - who has earned himself a Global moderator promotion.
Superman has moderated almost every section on Sythe!
His promotion was expected to say the least after busting out a whopping 192 scam reports in March as well as being an all round awesome guy.
I'm sure you'll do a great job as you have done as a sectional.



A sad departure for Wolfdog after he resigned from his position of Runescape Moderator.
He will be missed by the staff team, we hope to see you back soon buddy.

Question #1: If you could visit anywhere, where would it be?
Question #2: When you were first promoted, were you promoted to the section you wanted to moderate?



1. I'd go to the bottom of the ocean, where nobody has been before. If it were possible, that is.

2. Yes, definitely. Although I still feel for Shoop because the Support section was his baby (; The only reason I came back to Sythe after I SRB'd some time ago, besides to report a scam, was to post in that section. Which seems crazy, but the Support section is very relatable for me and in a way therapeutic to post in. I like to feel I'm helping others with their problems, depression, anxiety and other illnesses rather than feel bad and let my own get me down.



1. Dubai/Quatar, One of my friends from college who is like a brother to me is from there and now lives with his wife in Doha.

2. Yes, Market twice, but it didn't take me long to make it to global which I am happy with.



1. If I could just get up and go anywhere I wanted, I would most likely end up going to the US and visiting Djweasel.

2. Yes. At the time of my promotion, I was fairly involved in the market, and subsequently that is where I was promoted.



1. Italy. Mainly just to eat all of that good italian food 24/7.

2. Not really, I would have much more preferred the market, but once I got the hang of it not having perms there didn't stop me from wreaking havoc.



1. Australia, I've always wanted to go ever since I was a child.

2. When I was first promoted I was a RS Mod and loved it!



1. I'd love to do a tour through every US state.

2. I was being pestered to join staff for a long time as a market moderator which I refused on a number of occasions as I only had interest in GFX or Off Topic. I eventually joined the team as a GFX mod, so yes :}



1. The year 3000, as portrayed in Futurama. I reckon that would be a fun trip.

2. I was asked to choose between the Runescape section or Off Topic. I chose for Off Topic because it has a bigger variety in subjects and that was more attractive to me.



1. I would want to visit somewhere like Tokyo, Japan or a wealthier place in China. Their technology has always amazed me and their food is also very interesting. Tbh I just want to be a giant. =D

2. Yes the market has always been my main love on Sythe although I do also enjoy browsing the Runescape Discussion section so that would have been fantastic too!

Why did you initially join Sythe?
To get into the graphics section I saw a lot of the shops and they inspired me to start doing graphics, mainly Kin's shop.
Awesome, that must of been great when you got promoted to graphics moderator then.
If you were to moderate any other section, what section would you choose?
Well in all honesty I would never ask for another section as I would completely flop because I already have my plate full with the gfx section even though its the smallest section. I just have much less time than everyone else because I'm the youngest on staff :3 But If I were to moderate another section it would be off topic.
I had a feeling you would say that, I could see you being a great off topic moderator if you had the time.
What hobbies do you enjoy doing other than graphics?
Playing soccer definitely <3
I love soccer aswell *the recent graphics competition had little participation, any plans on bringing activity to the section?
Well ofc, thats my job. I mean sooner or later in the midst of trying to bring some activity to the gfx section i'm going to have to turn to the community itself and see what they want. But definitely during the Summer I will be free to spend on my time on Sythe much better only really have time for my shop and moderating now.
Have you ever thought about expanding your knowledge in graphics, maybe as a career path in the future?
Yes, actually its going to be my fall back plan if I fail college o.o Or don't get into one lol

How did you first find Sythe?
Erm, I was searching for somewhere where I could train people's accounts, so I googled it and found sythe.
What has kept you in the community so long? Good business?
Well anything but that. I made the account 'jackwootton' in early 09, got banned for advertising and vaded.
Got caught, pardoned, and then carried on with I_DONT_BOT in 2011.
I then got banned again in 2011 for owing cash, then a TwC for posting a banned users MSN, followed by a ban for DDoS relations.
I've stayed unbanned ever since October 2012.
I just wanted to keep coming back for the business, but staying everytime for the business, but staying everytime for the community and friends.
So I assume you donated the $500 for the community too? Or was that a trust factor?
I've got a system going ever since I joined sythe, I said I'd donate $1/Vouch.
I'm at 484 vouches so I donated to the $500 mark a few weeks ago, gonna keep it up.
Not only does it help the community and development of sythe, but also it does help a bit with trust, not gonna lie.
Ah, nice idea. What's your current relationship status?
I'm currently single, have been for a few months, I only have one true love though and that's my fosters.
Fosters as in foster parents or the alcoholic beverage?
The alcoholic beverage, I spend 5 nights a week in the pub so it's not a good sign, but it makes me have something to look forward to at the end of the day.
Yeah.. That doesn't sound too healthy. So, what are you hobbies?
They are the healthy bits of my life, football and darts are my two favourite sports to play though.
With other hobbies, I'd class working on the farm as one, as even though it's technically a job, it's rewarding and I get a lot of fun out of it, even though I can't do it as much as I'm at college.
Sounds good! What are you future plans on Sythe?
This is the bit where I sound cocky, oh dear.
I'd like to get OMM late this year, maybe next year, and keep my position in the CDT.
I'm looking forwards to what will come development wise on the site this year, SVU being one of the things, as well as the things discussed in CDT.
I'd really love to have a shot at being a moderator one day, but purely because of my past I doubt it'd happen, but you never know, there's firsts for everything.
Shoop for admin. Yes or No?
Time can only tell. Personally I think that SuF or Dj will get admin next, it's a close call, but I'm pretty confident on who the next global will be, and he's interviewing me now.

was a good read but my input was not included

 

I didn't get to read the whole thing, but it wasn't bad. Maybe you guys should have a certain "theme" that every edition of SytheMonthly could be based on, that's what I did previously. Also, try adding some humor into it, that's what I loved to do when I was writing these. I probably have some more suggestions, but I'm really lazy right now, so I'll just post it later. By the way, I'll probably have more time for Sythe in the summer, so maybe I can join the team to help out on this. Anyway, good job, and keep it up.
