Sythe scammers ridiculous..

I still believe if OMM were free, this psite would have less scamming.

 

It really isn't hard to learn safe trading, the amount scamming on this site is quite over hyped. Don't use PP with people you don't trust, use a MM if you don't feel safe, and most importantly check the person you're trading with in case they are a vader or if there are scammer reports against them. If even half the people who get scammed did this, the rate of scamming would be much less that it already is.

 

I honestly think it should be made obvious to new users that a great deal of users on this site are scammers. I have used other buying services and frankly none come close to having so many scammers, new members should be made aware of this, it's only fair that they can then make the decision if they want to trade with people on the site.

 

So you want a message to appear when someone registers that says "CAUTION: 99% of people on this website scam!"?

As the others have stated the amount of scammers on this sight is highly exaggerated, and is miniscule compared to a website such as Powerbot. If you practice safe trading you won't have a problem. There are plenty of legit sellers on this site.

 

There are some free MM's that are just as trusted as an OMM.

 

I've been bored just browsing through scammer reports when I noticed something. This "Siltech" guy has scammed over $600 from newbies in the past few days yet nothing is being done about him? Reading the reports about him actually made me sick to my stomach...

 

I got scammed $125 a few weeks ago. I still can't get over it - $125 is A LOT of money just to lose. I always take precautions, even when I got scammed. It was a Benda3 impersonator, I asked for a PM, so I sent a PM to the real Benda3 and I received a PM back instantly (the impersonator also said "sent" just as he actually sent it), ridiculous. Why would he reply to a PM of someone asking to confirm it's him if it's not him?

There's already quite a few free OMM and many highly trusted mms

Benda3 is libel for your loss and you should ask him to reimburse you. If he doesn't then file a scam report

 

But the time they are taking to do your trade, they could be earning cash....

 

When you first start out, you're going to need to go first a few times with trusted people. Because, like you, people aren't going to trust a new user with no vouches. Or use a trusted middleman.

When I first started, I always went first, but only to trusted users. I only don't use a middleman with people I've known for years. And in every other scenario, I've used a middleman. And I've never had a problem on this site. Not bad for almost 6 years of trading.

 

So... how many vouches is considered plenty or the guy is trusted?

There's no set boundaries between trusted and not trusted. It's up to you to decide, based on someone's vouches, whether you trust them or not.

 

You cant file a scam report for that, is not bendas fault he didnt read the PM

 

I remember contacting quite a few OMMs (around 6) and none of them ever replied to me... So what the heck am I suppose to do? And can you mention a safer way to transact money other than PP (excl. bank transfer or RL)?

Btw, it's normal for this forum to have a lot of scammers (same with powerbot). There are some small low-profile RWTing forums with very few scammers.

Edit: Also, how are the money transferred using an OMM? Do I have to directly transfer my money to the other person or do they go to the OMM first (which I highly doubt at least because of fees)? Because OMMs would be useless if I transfer the money directly to the other person because he could easily chargeback.

 

I may have jumped the gun, but it depends on what Fairbanks actually pm'd him and how he responded. Just like how Louis was scamming by pm

It suck's you got scammed but keep your head up and be careful when trading people

 

There are different tutorials to prevent being scammed.. Generally you should use an MM/OMM when trading with non high vouch people, but you shouldn't think it's always necessary.. Also, you shouldn't avoid trading with a person if they don't want to use an OMM (like said numerous times on this thread).. I personally haven't used an OMM in even 10% of my trades (1200+ easily)..

You just have to go with your instincts and trade with trusted people.. If you really took the time to look through people's vouches, reputation, etc; you'll realize their trusted..

If you're buying from a gold trader, want to buy some gold.. Roughly 100M.. You go to busta305.. You look through his past trades, vouches, etc.. You see he has vouches for trades that are bills at a time, thousands of dollars, etc.. That should be an indicator that he is trusted.. Especially enough for a 100M trade.

You shouldn't go first to people who haven't been trusted with as much as you want to buy, atleast all at once..

 

sythe isnt responsible for scammers. it's your better judgement. and why would an OMM be free? why would he/she waste their time for nothing?
