You do have a say, we base most of our decisions on your opinions, we're users, traders and contributers ourselves, we still want mostly what non-staff want. and Staff Polls being public would be ridiculous, why do you need to see it? when they contain opinions, and guaranteed atleast one member will get pissy when they find out what staff think about them, Im happy to know that I will never be told the votes on my Poll.

Also, if we made a certain Poll public, lets say for someone who visits regularly, if he's voted as unsuitable for moderator, he wouldn't be happy with this place and would probably leave, if the vote is private, he'll never know the difference and will carry on using the site.

Most things need to be kept secret, hence it being A Private lounge, the information in there is sensitive and personal to the staff posting it, it doesn't make us shady, I'd actually see it as much more professional, Staff matters should not be spread all over the forum for debate and mockery (which it would). And I find the 'Discuss things openly' rather insulting considering the length that Finn went to make sure you guys had your say in a main rule change, self Vouching from a permanent to 3 months.

So instead, you'd rather have a staff member vote publicly for his friend, feeling pressured that if he doesnt choose yes he could lose them? Im on friendly terms with several members here, and theres some users I don't like, But i wont post that about them, Thats unprofessional, Keeping certain opinions in the staff section helps alot. It certainly does not make us corrupt and unworthy, calm down.

Again, most of the decisions made are subtracted from suggestions and feedback, hence the 3 day to 7 day change on high pardons, rule changes, new sections, etc.

Its not personal feelings, its sensitive, any choice/post a staff member makes would deeply reflect their character and an impression would be made instantly, why should a staff member be worried what to post so he doesn't upset his friends? Staff have rights to privacy containing their opinion, and shouldn't have to be forced to publicly publish it, and if this is implemented, I will not.

We are not talking about staff nomination polls.

Why are suggestions that effect the entirely community private? I understand that some things need to be private but many do not. Asking for open discussions about suggestions is not insulting. Finn made this happen once, kind of, so why not again?

Not applicable to what I am suggesting.

    Obviously.

How would a post upset someone's friends? If you have an opinion about something then post it. If you have sound reasoning behind your opinion no one has any reason to be hurt.

I support this, but only as it applies to normal members. If it's staff related/involved (meaning has no great affect on the average sythe'r) then why should we be informed.

    Thanks as always!

If someone has an opinion, they'll post it, don't bump your own suggestion thread.

No support because some things are meant to be private. The staff have the right to anonymity when discussing topics.

The suggestions forum seldom gets taken seriously as it is. I don't see fault with allowing said discussions to happen publicly, but practically, the real decisions would be made based on the arguments voiced in the staff lounge anyway.

I just replied to your thread on "offsite activities," and I'll be the first to admit that I didn't want to wade through 9 pages of unintelligent replies and repetition just to find the core arguments posted by those with a genuine perspective. The staff are the same way. When it comes to an important decision, it's ineffective when the crux of the argument gets buried in everything else.

(I also have other issues with decisions based on public opinion, as voiced after the vouch rule modifications. Most importantly, many members on this site are fleeting, and have objections that are different from, and even in opposition to, the goals of this site. Create a thread asking if OMM's should be obliterated, and you'd probably get reasonable support not because it's a good idea, but because those with beginning MM services would prefer less competition for themselves. )

I would be open to even just staff member debate in the public, although it would not be as good as there are members, such as yourself, who actually can contribute something good to some discussion. The opinions of the members would also not matter. The final decision would still be up to the staff and the staff alone. Members should just be able to give input about something that may make it better and the staff should be held accountable to discuss things that have business to be discussed.
