never said i was going to reddit? i was talking about why the gaming community of reddit exceeds sythe's by an incredible amount, but if you don't want that feedback, i don't care too much. it's your website.

i've referred a lot of people to the community of this website and all of them quit within a week because of aforementioned reasons.

i mean yeah, but that's because its core foundations are really good.

one being that newcomers don't have to wait a few years to be relevant to the website.

 

cmon, Sythe. you even quoted that a newcomer told you in discord that he didn't feel welcome in our community when you were arguing with yousuck i believe. look around your discussion sections and see that there are permutations of the same 15 people posting in all these sections.

i'm just pointing out the problem, i don't know how to fix it. the people i've told about this site tell me they are too intimidated to even post because their opinion will probably mean shit anyways.

exactly, but we need a way to get new people because as people grow older they probably won't use this website as much as they used to. we essentially need a steady flow of newcomers to this website.

the first step is definitely scam prevention. i've seen way too many newcomers get scammed then never return. when i first joined, i came for the market and stayed for the community. every newcomer you lose to a scam is a loss for the community. so the user education team might help in that regard.

once we prevent some scams from occurring we might translate these market members into community members which is a great first step. young people these days as flying toast was saying need more of an instant gratification which is why MMO's are dying. i suggest possibly revamping the post ranks and reducing the gap between ranks to make newer people feel they are progressing in the forum. sythe gold was also a good idea.

the last step is the hardest step which is making them feel they are relevant to the community and not a useless newcomer. possibly give more sythe gold to a person who quotes a newcomer to artificially increase this sense of importance at first and then reduce it as the newcomer gets more posts.
