Staff update

Can be although the hang up at the time (seemed like a lot of people were on board) was that xenforo hadn't been updated for some mod actions to properly be recorded which meant that modscore wasn't working properly. Now of course it's redundant as they're relying solely on an anonymous peer review system which I think is a huge mistake as it can lead to popularity contests without some objective data to back up people's opinions.

As it's something I voiced as alarming relying on just the reviews when I left, that's good to hear. The framework for what I proposed should be in SL somewhere if you're interested to run with it.

New members are infatuated with the sight of a "high ranking member" responding to their posts. put poeple who know things about their section and have them encourage discussion. put the staff in the community instead of trying to remove them from it and have them oversee from above.

The various team leaders we have already have some staff-perms in certain subsections. Think that's a step in the right direction.

 

people need staff perms to actually manage sections correctly

 

So that the sections can be proactively moderated instead of reactively moderated. People who are active in the sections under stand them best and can come up with rules for the section and enforce them properly. They can decide they need to change something and just do it instead of asking someone else to do it. You are also empowering them and giving people an incentive to post in their favorite sections because they want mod and once they are mod they have an incentive to stick around and to do a good job so that they might get global. Staff gives a lot of incentives and keeps people around and has a lot of useful features that aren't really about moderating or just clearing spam
