Spam Forum Required Post Count/Join Date

This was brought up during the Great Banning of 2010, but was never officially suggested.

Basically, I believe, and several other members agreed that the spam forum should be a privilege.

I want to expand on it and say that the spam forum should be renamed to 'Active Members Lounge' or something like that. Require 6 months of being registered and at least 100 posts to post in that forum.

It would completely revamp it, and make it more enjoyable .

x9 and Hahanerd both said that they would prefer 3 months, and x9 believes no minimum post count. I believe this to be reasonable, and would still accomplish the same thing.

 

3 months would be better. Great suggestion. Less trolls, less evaders, less drama. Support.

 

You know I love you bro but to be honest with you, it's the vaders who come back and post stupid shit that gets me laughing.

 

To be honest, most of the trolling is done by more experienced members. I'm going to remain neutral on this one.

 

Reduced amount of evaders. Not so much drama. I guess I support.

 

They can be funny, but they cause the most problems and bring down the intelligence of the forum overall... Most of them are fails, tbh.

 

Its always been a cesspit. Why not leave it one?

 

Because of Sythe's recent show of disgust, and because improving the forum would be for the better.

An "application" would make more sense. A forum I used visit a few years back had a similar spam forum, and it eventually degenerated into the kind that exists here. They fixed it by having two spam forums - one with a post count requirement, and one based on an application / respect a user had. I think a similar method would work here.

 

An application system would indeed be interesting. Personally, I'd prefer one that just keeps out vaders and newfags, allowing active members to participate in discussions.

Applications could get complicated, and determining who should be accepted would require a lot of work.

I'd like this, but there should be an application forum too. Both would help root out the very annoying trolls.. (I still do my fair share.. )

I agree with the idea, but I'm not quite at 6 months It would certainly keep the vaders out though.

6 months is a long time, I think 3 months would be better as well.

 

I can agree with a 3 month requirement rather than a 6 month requirement. Both accomplish the same thing.

In all seriousness, I still think something should be done with the spam forum. I would support some sort of system that will stop ban evaders from posting in the forum.

 

Indeed, which is why the join date requirement is thrown in there as well . There's many options to choose from for this.

And...

I believe the spam forum deserves a clause in this scenario, given the recent circumstances.
