Spam Forum Ranks

Some people take SF way to serious tbh, even when I act serious I'm trolling 99% of the time unless its something serious like Sythe asking a real question or something.

I wouldn't mind this provided its an easy to-do kind of thing, I support.

 

Do I think mass thread flooding would occur? No. Do I think their would be an increase in stupid shit posted by individuals simply wanting the rank? Yes. People like ranks and they're cool to have. If I didn't meet the requirement and this was a few years ago, you can bet I would be posting more to meet such a requirement.

You did not clarify that individuals made their own ranks, rather you stated they chose what was in it. The problem rooted in self-rank creation is the content will not be equivocal across the board. Making ranks isn't hard, I've made a few of the mini ranks myself; however, little things like not having a border will disparage the looks of the entire user interface. I realize it's the spam forum, but there's no need to the user interface look bad. All of this can be avoided with a simple universal fun rank, or maybe 2-3 alternatives that can be selected depending on the method of handing out the rank that is chosen. Avoiding even the UI issues, there's still the manner of the ranks themselves being applied. This application process is significantly extended when there's a high amount of custom ranks.

I think you misunderstand what the concept of it being a pain is. The spam forum could be the least active section, it still doesn't change the steps needed to apply the rank to each individual that requests one alongside the actual upload of the rank. One time? Not very time consuming at all, but multiple times? It gets tedious fast and continually doing it would be a hassle. I assure you there are better things for Admins to doing and even if there wasn't, I don't imagine they want to do. I know I wouldn't.

I thought of this, but I would be against it. If a fun rank is being given it out it shouldn't be to a random user within the spam forum itself; rather, individuals that have used the spam forum continually.

 

How about x amount of posts over x amount of years? There are quite a few long time SF shitposters here...

But like.. the whole point of the SF is shitposting. I love shitposting. I would consider it a success if more people shitpost.

And yeah, I totally understand your concern of it being a hassle. But hey, I could meet in the middle and make it so that you can choose from a group of fun ranks (at least 5) to be displayed. They can be created by the community and voted on so that way the admins wouldn't even have to worry about going through the hassle of creating the ranks. Obviously though I would prefer them to be customized per individual, but whatever needs to be done.

So basically you're worrying about people that have been around for a while but don't have 1,000 posts? Idk, I feel like if you're a true shitposter you should have at least 1,000 posts.

I'm concerned with the ability to spam 1k SF PC for rank decreasing the level of quality. Sure its mostly irreverent shitposts but its not truly "spam" ya dig?

 

What metric did you use to get that number? Did you go through all of your posts and see which ones were trolls and then calculated the %?

 

Who the fuck moved this to the Spam Forum? This is literally a real suggestion and was fine in the suggestions thread. @Shin move this back please? I don't understand what your logic was behind moving this.

My bad, it was a poor interpretation on my part. Again, all these types of arguments are people worried about more people getting the rank, but I want a lot of people to be able to have these ranks displayed in the SF. Not trying to create more exclusivity in the SF.

Not really down for this part, I think it should be an exclusivity thing. Shitposting for years on end and haunting the dumbest part of the site should be rewarded in some form.

 

Might want to make the tags and poll a bit more user friendly if it's getting moved to Our Community.

In all seriousness, absolutely 0% support. That's a lot of work for A LOT of people. Not even at 10k posts would that be a good idea... 1k is insane. It'd devalue the $300 donor rank as well as funranks.

Though I could use it to have double Mudkip...

You do realize this would only apply to the SF. Unless you're implying people only want ranks to be shown in the SF..
