    Solution to Scammers

So yea..Sythe's got a huge problem with scammers. Too many Leechers coming in with the sole purpose of scamming..and too many idiots who are falling for their scams.

Note that although the title of this is "Solution to Scammers..." it's more of just a way to reduce them. There are always the assholes who are trying to steal money from people on the Internet..but hopefully this will lessen the amount of work mods/admins have to do.

I was thinking of just doing some simple updates..maybe make requirements to view the Black Market forums and whatnot. Maybe make them have to have been a member for 48 hours or something, make a post count requirement, anything like that.

I personally can't think of any good requirements to make, if anyone else has any feel free to post them. I was just looking through the Report a Scammer section of the forums and was like "Shit..I feel sorry for the mods in charge of this." So yea, I don't know. Just a thought.

When you make a suggestion, please actually take the time to think it through. You have two mini-paragraphs about nothing, then you are unsure of what to do and everything is a maybe (btw they won't add post requirements to view. Bad idea). Next, you can't think of anything. You gave up on your idea but still decided to post it.

So many people would not be scammed if they took the time to check out who they are buying from, or just buy from the big sellers. They are lazy/stupid about it and it leads them to be scammed. Of course, this isn't the reason for everyone being scammed, I know. But 99% yes :p

Anyway, like I said, they won't add post requirements to view any forum because it's a bad idea. They would lose traffic and ad revenue if they did that.

The only way to stop scammers is to either become them, or allow them.

If people just buy from the big sellers, how will the small sellers become big?

Usually, if they have no history and seem nice I would ask them to go first. Whenever I've done that I haven't been scammed. If they decline but still seem nice I would consider going first. When the trader I am talking to is a dick(rude/impatient), then I just assume it's going to turn out bad and do not trade with that person. If neither you or the seller/buyer can agree on a trade you're comfortable on then I suggest find a new person to trade with.

The only times I've been scammed on sythe was by
    1. Officially MM "MountainDrew" - stole a pin for his friend
    2. "rares" - sold me a WoW account that he tried getting back, but got it disabled. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because blizzard might have noticed the change of info, but when the password was suddenly different right after I gave him it and the form to unlock the account (not to mention seeing him selling both the runescape account and WoW account the next day) I knew I was scammed. My fault for trusting an unknown.
    3. I can't remember if I've been scammed anymore. I am almost positive that's it...

If people start getting scammed, they will be more careful of what they are doing. They still start to research the history of the people.

    Its the solution to scammers.

I don't think so.. :p I think most people here are just stupid about who they try to trade with. I've always checked the history ;D

But interesting theory. I hope we never have to try it out. :p

Then the idiots that are being scammed repeatedly would get fed up with it and leave, leaving the smart ones.

    Darwinism at its finest.

For some reason, there will always be scammers. We can try our best to remove some, but they will always be there, and we just have to face it and always use OMM's. So what if they charge $5.00, You know that your going to be safe unless they got hacked like 'The Viper000' did.

Just keep in mind to always use middlemans.

I don't know how many times the mods and admins have said this, but there will never be requirements to get into the Black Market because this site was built on the whole purpose of the Black Market.

Actually this website was built on the whole purpose of runescape cheating hence "Sythe, Did someone say cheating?" and then was expanded to otherr areas such as the black market ^_^

Just Use a Middle-Man. Use Systems like Western union where both seller and buyers personal information is shared.

An Idea I once saw on another site, Is Phone confirmation etc that you have to supply your home phone number.(People will know what I mean if they came across this kinda verification.

But that would cost Sythe money, so I highly doubt that would ever be put in place.

Users should be redirected to a thread upon registration.

The thread could state, always use a middleman and ask for a PM

The thread could also include lots of useful links like how to Claim & Cancel and where to go for MM's
