SO I recently got back into runescape

i kinda wanna use this thread to open up because i'm just so comfy doing so here i pretty much have an addiction to the duel arena as to i won billions and i mean billions over 50b+ but i can honestly say ive bought more gold then anyone i've ever known i spent over 10k on gp in just a few months but i do sell gp to the same place i buy from but i wanted to find out if i can just simply enjoy the game like i use too i love pking but staking and gambling really get in my way i am down from purchasing 10k of gold to only being at 5k return with maybe few bills in the bank at the moment i really don't want to use runescape as a form of real life money making i wanted to use runescape as an escape from life but not so much of an escape like i don't want to live and everything is dread im in pre med and stuck at home due to co-vid so no school nothing to really leave the house so runescape is my escape from boringness if there's any tips or tricks you can pass on a young one like me to effectively not just stop staking or gambling but to sustainably have self control.

 

As far as an addiction to gambling, I'd suggest checking the many resources that are available online. There's also support groups and whatnot to help hold you accountable. I'm not sure that the urge will ever go away completely.

If you want to enjoy RS then I'd suggest trying out the Ironman mode. You can't trade or do duels for GP. Everything is earned via drops or making it yourself.

I am more looking for tips on how i can control myself more effectivily and not avoid or stay away from my weakness but become strong enough to face it and decline the offer e.g if i wanted to commit to a diet the most effective thing would probably be to fill your house with only healthy foods but i want to have the power to eat healthy while being in a candy shop the candy shop is runescape

Well if gambling is tied to your rs experience maybe stepping away from rs would be useful for a bit to allow your brain to sorta desync from seeing that rs is gambling. If you are going to play you need to separate rs and gambling and tie it to other things such as slayer, skilling, and combat not related to gambling. Tbh just never log into world 2 either that would help. Control the urge to even login to the world.

As they mentioned before I would seek resources for gambling addiction. If you need them I can edit them into this post or you can PM me for them. RuneScape is meant to be a grinding point and click game. Unfortunately, it’s be come way more and you’re not the only person I’ve seen experience this dilema.

Ironman mode is a thing and it’ll force you to play the game normally. You can always revert to normal later on if you please but perhaps this is the best option. Don’t play with your luck because your luck won’t last.
