So I built my first computer and...

Whenever I start it up it gets to forming the windows logo saying starting windows, freezes, then gives me a blue screen and restarts. The error code is: STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFF880009A97E8, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000). Now everything but the graphics card and HDD are brand new in the computer I built. It's Windows 7 and I spent hours yesterday trying to figure out what the hell the problem was and never could. I planned on going to Geek Squad and spending that retarded amount of money that they charge you just to get my computer fixed but something happened and I can't go until Thursday. So instead of dealing with all that I decided to come to you guys and see if anyone can help me. At this point I'm presuming that I need to buy new windows and a new HDD or SSD, but I have no idea.

If anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it.

 

Did you do a clean install of windows or did you just take your old drive and use it?

 

I just took my old hard drive and used it as I don't have the windows disk and the hard drive has a bunch of my stuff on it.

 

That's your problem. Wipe the drive.

You could obtain it via more questionable methods for free, but I'm not allowed to elaborate. I'm sure you know what I mean.

If you have some important stuff in your old drive then there are ways to recover. Are you worried about getting all your old files back or nah?

 

I am indeed, but I have a way. It'll cost around $65 but it's cheaper than Geek Squad I think.

 

Just throwing it out there, you can buy a 120gb SSD or larger easy for less than $65 and use that for your main drive. Then use your old hdd for storage and transfer things over/clean up. Good luck.

If you don't want to use questionable methods to get Windows, when I built my PC I bought mine off of this guy overview for s5ean for like 10$

EDIT: Seems like his prices are now 20$

 

buy a flash drive or 3, use windows easy transfer and load all the shit you want to keep onto it, format the drive with the new motherboard, then reload everything you had. or buy a new hard drive to format and be bootable and then still have access to your old drive.

 

Seems like a great SSD for the price, looked up reviews elsewhere also. May be something better by the time you upgrade, good luck.
