If you haven't done it, I highly suggest trying.

"Smurfing" is the act of a moderately skilled player creating another account playing at low levels and with teammates that are far below their skill tier.

It sounds easy and fun, but actually as you'll quickly notice, Riot has a great system of taking the players that belong together and putting them together. After raping face on some AI's, you'll be in PvP and if you're of a med-high skill tier, (like myself in Gold) your first couple PvP games will be too easy. After that, you'll be matched with 9 other smurfs. These are the games that get interesting. Occasionally you'll get someone that's actually new at the game, but as anyone knows, and don't lie, everyone sucked at league when they first started. It's a whole new genre and a different type of game (unless you played DOTA.)

This is where things get interesting. Basically, you have 9-10 Gold-Diamond level players trolling and picking whatever the hell they want, going wherever the hell they want. Since you'll only have blind pick for a good while, it's even better.

Personally, I have been going ADC ahri with rushing shiv and bez boots, maxing charm first.

Anyway, tell me your smurfing stories! One of my personal favorites was TF voli getting a penta in their spawn.

Haven't played a normal in years.

I smurf in ranked, more so boosting. Also, no offence intended, gold isn't high/skilled tier. Not saying you aren't, just the stigma of that tier is not high in any way.

I guess my smurf story would be winning around 20 ranked matches in a row playing kat/kayle/gragas mid and acquiring a penta every game or second. Around silver 1 this boost was.

Yeah its kinda awesome how the matchmaking system works with smurf accounts, my teammates and i leveled up new accounts on EUW recently and by the time we got to the 20's we were getting higher quality games skill level wise then you would get in gold solo que on NA, high win rate = high match making i suppose when it comes to normals

Yep. There is normal MMR aswell; win/loss ratio.

^ My normal mmr is "elo hell" around silver 4 while I'm gold in ranked, because I never play normals and i'm stuck with goobs.

Lol yeah I love playing normal and getting people with 900-1100 ELO. It's so much fun.

I'm LAAAAAAAME
playing nidalee or lee sin on a smurf is so fucking broken... The magic of smurfing also kind of falls off after you win a couple of games, though. After that your normal elo is so artificially high you just get placed with other smurfs. either way i prefer playing normals on my smurf rather than my main because i feel like it is a better use of my time.

Smurfing is boring though. You have to carry your entire team in which virtually impossible.

Smurfing should only be done with a duo q partner that you know that way your chances of a troll in a game is less. 2 people can carry 3 people but 1 person cannot carry 4.

After a while carrying games with troll pick gets boring and you find yourself coming back to a boring mage to quickly gain XP like Veigar or Nidalee. :P

i started a new account with blitzcrank as my main. Lol the pulls

Bad idea. Honestly, just stick to one account to level 30 and play an array of champs. Maining one champ to become mechanically sound should come after you've played at least half the champs and so on.

i do play other champs lol i just made another account because ive become so much better and i wanted a better win ratio and stats. I main blitz because i can totally control the game most times in low lvl.

When I first started smurfing I just spammed AP yi.

Then after that was removed I moved to playing Kat/Khazix to level up my smurf. I did AD kat once in a while, AP Warwick, Full AP Skarner.

I just spam mid because that's the worst role for me on my main all for practice.

Smurfing is fun and boring at the same time. Sure, you win but you don't gain anything out of it except the joy of winning. I smurf to train/teach my friends how to play better only.

I agree with what Sellerman said. Even if your MMR is 500 you should still play on one account. Smurfing is pointless unless you're truly in high Plat/diamond and just want to fuck around. Winrate is such a pointless stat, and KDR is even more pointless. Playing on a smurf just develops bad habits and gameplay that does not reflect opponents with skill. When you get like 70% winrate on a smurf, you'll still end up losing just as much on a ranked account.

Picking a "main" is also fine, but like Sellerman said, once you play enough champions and get a good champion pool, you can basically play anyone. I recently bought Wukong for the first time, and I selected him in a ranked promo game for jungle after never playing him at all. That game I went like 6/0/15. You learn the mechanics of the "role" by playing every champion several times over. You already kind of understand Wukong's mechanics simply by playing other bruiser/junglers. When you pick a new champion after being "good" with 50 of them, it will be easy to learn new ones. Limiting yourself to a very small pool of champions will make it hard to learn new ones when the meta shifts.

It's a huge pet peeve of mine when my ADC picks Vayne into someone like Janna/Caitlyn, but the player said he can't play any other ADC because he doesn't know their mechanics... Vayne is simply not good anymore unless the other team has 3 or more tanks, and people who insist on playing their underpowered "main" deserve to be stuck in bronze or low silver. (By the way, Blitzcrank is definitely one of those underpowered champs who shouldn't see any serious gameplay.)
