That is a really stupid question tbh, that is on the same level as banning alcohol, cigarettes, to much TV, to much computers, to much work, to much fun, to lazy etc etc. AKA the thought police.

If we start intervening with overweight peoples life, then where does it stop? Monitoring alcoholics and smokers would have to be done also which would cause general communism=|

only if you can diagnose that their obesity is not something they can control / is derived from some sort of mental disorder

in that case you have the moral obligation to save them, and, if necessary, force them into a diet.

however if somebody just likes to eat, and suffers from no mental disorder that causes him to eat uncontrollably, then it is not your right to force them to diet

same goes with anorexic people- they have a mental disorder, the only way to save them is to force them to eat and receive medicine, but it doesnt apply to , for example, a girl who wants to get thin enough to fit into really tight clothes, or something like that.

Anyone who is obese because they are "compulsive eaters" shouldn't be forced to diet, because they let themselves become what they are, if they WANT help because they have a serious issue, then it should be offered.

Government should never force you to do anything to change your personal life. They should not make accommodations for them though.

anorexic people often dont request help because they have a mental disorder, it's their parents usually who force them to receive help, would you apply the same logic here? should anorexics be left to die unless they somehow bounce off their mental disorder and ask for help (which is quite uncommon)

sometimes a man's freedom has to be sacrificed for his own good.

i know this idea is one of the outlines of the Fascist ideology, but it's a necessary idea that has to be implemented in every modern society, for that reason Anarchism will never work (at least pure anarchism)

    Should the obese...

    Ok, here's my views:

I am overweight, and would love to lose weight, but it's not the easiest thing to get the willpower to say no to everything being shoved in our faces, you go out and you're blasted with food that is terrible for the body, full of fat, etc. yet tastes absolutely delicious. I would LOVE for someone to force me to lose the weight, I would LOVE for someone to force me to go out and exercise, I would LOVE for someone to disallow me to eat the foods that make me this way... I can hold a diet and exercise for a week or two but then it's just too easy and tempting to give it up for something delicious but terrible.

It's just so difficult to get the willpower to stick to it... that's the problem with most people wanting to lose weight, it's far too easy to just give up, and in fact, it's REWARDING to give up, since you then have access to the delicious food you can't have when trying to slim up...

It should become voluntary that you can receive some kind of enforcer to ensure you lose the weight, with serious consequences for giving up, remove the rewards of giving up, punish giving up, and reward the success. You can't simply force someone to lose weight, you have to provide incentives or you'll just receive extreme backlash and blockades.

The idea is simply a fallacy. You can't just address an entire group of people (a large one at that, no pun intended) and tell them how they should live their lives, whether it's better for them or not. Do you think that if the U.S. marched into a 3rd world country and said with AIDS (if you are diagnosing obesity as a disease) had to be sterilized, for they might get someone infected, that the specified people would be happy with that? No. So stop your hidden hate for a specific group of people and stop making pointless threads.

Should we force people to not do drugs for their own good? Oh wait - bad example...

The answer is no by the way.
