Should OSRS be free for all players?

I think OSRS should be free for all players so that the OS community would grow. What are your thoughts/opinions? I'm interested to hear about it.

 

I think what they do now is fine. Give the 2 weeks free to give them an insight on the game. It's all about money for Jagex and OSRS is a moneymaker due to the membership requirements.

 

i wish it was free so I don't have to keep making accounts to receive OSRS payments from sythe customers lol; none of my accs have members.

Yep. But then it means more competition, and at the same time, more of an audience.

 

It should be free to play but limited like it has always been well before EOC. Limited to go to like catherby and such places.

 

I believe that what Jagex is doing is fine at the moment. They need to make money somehow or they would wouldn't be in business, although after the removal of pre-eoc, IMO they loss a large amount of revenue.

 

Keep it as p2p. That way it keeps the peasants away ;P

 

it would be better if it was f2p because it would bring new people. Currently its quite popular, but in long term the amount of active players will drop.

 

yeah f2p should stick tbh...

 

f2p would bring way to many bots, so no imo it should remain the way it is

Yeah but with restrictions like no cutting yews/catching lobsters. We don't need anymore bots because as of right now there are too many.

lol f2p on osrs sucks. keep it p2p. no complaints. in reality there is no one who does f2p and doesn't end up going to p2p. there's only so much you can do.

 

That's a good suggestion. With restrictions, it'll stop bots and players could experience OSRS.

 

They addressed this on their Q & A and said that they would test out how many of their current players would be F2P if it was free on multiple occasions.

 

For the time being it is free , but the only thing i have experienced in my time of play is LLLLLAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGG.

 

Bots would overwhelm the f2p worlds if it was permanent. As much as I would like for it to be free forever, there is no good reason to keep it everlasting. 2 weeks is enough to decide whether you want to upgrade or stop playing.
