Should I leave her alone?

Here is what you do, ignore everything else people have told you, this is what you do, you IGNORE the guy that threatened you. YOU COMPLETELY IGNORE HIM and act like he doesn't exist. You put 100% of your attention on HER. You do it, and it will drive the other guy NUTS he will probably threaten you, tell him to fuck off, trash talk with him, even if you can't back it up, get your ass BEAT if you have to, she will dump him so fast if she cares about you. Try to get a few swings in on the fight, I'm not saying kick his ass, I'm saying stick up for your self. So she knows you don't like to fight, but you will stick up for her, and you do truly love her, (and your not a pussy) she will actually probably get closer to you because you got your ass beat for HER. There is a chance this won't work, like a 20% chance. But that just means she wasn't worth it anyways bro.

I would say she is a shallow person and you're description makes it sound like u dont have much self-esteem
(and if my assumption is true, be strong and positive, ur just as good as anyone else in ur own way)
I've been in this situation where a guy said he'd kick my ass, heres what I did first of all. get the phone number of that person and save it, then I waited for them to breakup as I obviously saw it was a bad relationship; same in ur situation. Once they breakup, talk to them again using txt messages or even calling the person. at this point, dont leave her alone, keep moving forward until u notice she is moving backwards. eventually, be comfortable talking and start going places together. be comfortable and eventually a relationship will come without even asking.

If you want a long relationship to last you have to be urself and +1 nicer. This is the only way to know if this person is right for u, because if u cant be comfortable with the person without being urself, the relationship will not work.
