Should I be dead?

I was snowmobiling today, and there's one intersection where you have to go through right in front of where the cars are stopped. The road is 5 lanes wide.

I was waiting there for 10 minutes to find the right time to go. The light turned red, so I pulled as hard as I could on the handle of my snowmobile to go. Then I noticed that the cars that I was going in front of had started to move.. The light turned green. One lane stopped for me (and there was a cop in this lane), and the other lane couldn't see me due to the first lane being stopped and full.

I couldn't turn around, or stop, because I would have been hit. I kept going, and all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I saw a bumper an inch away from my shoulder. I just missed it, and then I looked behind me, and the lady kept going a few feet before stopping, going at around 55 MPH.

I kept going, and then I looked behind me and noticed that the police officer followed me, so I stopped. He came up to me, asked me my age and stuff, and warned me that I was almost hit, and need to be more careful, bleh, bleh.

It's really got me thinking.. I could be dead right now.. Why am I alive?

The worst part is, my younger sister was on the back with me.. She could have died too.

Just a slight rant, sorry. Not sure where to post this.

Damn, you are really lucky I guess. Be smarter next time because those are the kind of stories that makes me feel bad for the person.

 

Consider yourself blessed, maybe it was a warning from (if you believe in a higher power) (god) that you should be more careful with choices, as not only your own life will be at risk.

Same goes for the lady in the car, she's probably thinking she almost killed 2 people.

You're writing this thread - you're not dead, that's why you shouldn't be dead. Don't ask stupid questions and stop thinking about it. Just a waste of time. Life is full of chances and coincidences, just deal with it.

 

No, you shouldn't be dead. Perhaps this will open your eyes a bit more and you will be more careful. If you're going to put your life at risk like that at least think about your sister and family. You took a stupid action. It wouldn't be too wise to do something like this again.

 

The light was red for traffic, so I went. I'm not exactly sure how it's entirely my fault, it had just turned red.

 

Were you crossing at the traffic light? To me it seems like you were just cutting through the middle of the street. If this is the case then it is indeed your fault.

 

No I don't believe in "I shoulda been dead' stories because people who worry bout that. Shit I could be driving 70 on the interstate tonight and hit some ice and roll my car and live......should I say "Should I be dead?"

 

The snowmobile trail goes right through the intersection, right in front of where all of the cars eastbound stop for the red light. I was not just going across the road at a random point. There's official trails here that you need to pay to use.

 

i think you should think of it as "you have a reason to be alive" then "should i be dead" hah.. i had a near death experince but it was when i was 6.. long story short my dad was cuttin the grass i ran up behind him to show him something slipped on wet grass and my leg went under.. came about a quarter of an inch to my main artery and if it hit it i woulda bleed out real quick. still got my leg though haha
