Should elevators and escalators be illegal?

"Unintentional". If people were sticking forks in their eyes to the point where it was considered to be made illegal or not, I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume that it would be intentional.

And I don't think every human who died using an elevator or an escalator did it on purpose, didn't he?
Accidents happen, and to call them illegal is a harsh decision.
We might as well make thousands of other appliances illegal because there is a possibility one might be injured or killed by it if we use this logic.

The government gave us those cars. As owner, they must take the steps and precautions to make sure that the users of the cars they are loaning out receive as minimum injury, even if inevitable, as possible. This is why they stress the usage of seat belts, and generally, "Caring for your safety".

The government gave us those cars? Loaning out? What? That isn't how it works in real life. Am I missing something?

The government gives us cars? And then you say that they own all our cars? Lol what country do you live in exactly...

If the government decided we will not have cars, then we will not legally have cars. It's simple. Essentially, they give us the right to those cars, which in my delusionary hell, gives them the credit to say, "We gave you that car."

Besides, if at any time the government wishes to take that car away from you, who're you going to appeal to in order to get it back?

No one.

That's the same point that I made. Not many deaths from escalator and elevator are intentional. If sticking forks in eyes got to a point to be considered made illegal, however, that would be classified as intentional.

WTF. And you agree with this totalitarian madness?

WTF. And you agree with this totalitarian madness?

I'm more of a natural person. I will not condone the abilities and powers of the government, but by all means, if I wish to wish a peaceful, convienent life, I will tolerate there abilities and accept the fact that no matter how much I don't like it, it's true.

That begs the question - why does the government have the right to decide whether or not I can own a car.

I wouldn't appeal to anybody. They have the biggest guns, and I value my life more than a car. That doesn't mean I think it's right.

You will never live a peaceful and convenient life with an all powerful government. Look through history and you will see that these types of government are always corrupt and always end with revolution.

Basically, a comparison of your question is,

"So what if he made the website. Why does he have control over what happens on it?"

"Why does the teacher have the right to decide what goes on in the classroom?"

"Why does the inventory have the right to decide how his item works?"

It's simple logic. They shape the nation, they make the rules.

My point exactly.

You will never live a peaceful and convenient life with an all powerful government. Look through history and you will see that these types of government are always corrupt and always end with revolution.

Until I can make a change myself, I have no option but to tolerate it. Either that, or whine.

Considering how I do tolerate it, it's fairly easy for me, and everyone else, to say,

Yes, I do live a peaceful, convenient life.

Are you saying the government owns all the land here? And that since I choose to live here I'm consenting to whatever they want?

By all means, you do not have to consent. You are, however, forced to obey.

Of course, you do have the ability to disobey what those in a higher position say. Of course, there are side-effects.

A simple quote barely recognizes the truth. Besides, in reality, this quote is completely void, which I'm sure you realize.

A simple quote barely recognizes the truth.

Um, what? This is a founding father, one of the guys who built this country, basically saying that the people hold the ultimate power. I don't know how you can get any more "truth" than that.

Besides, in reality, this quote is completely void, which I'm sure you realize.

Why is this quote void? Are you saying that the founding father's words don't mean anything?

Um, what? This is a founding father, one of the guys who built this country, basically saying that the people hold the ultimate power. I don't know how you can get any more "truth" than that.

Hm. Okay.
The ultimate authority.
Absolute authority resides in the people.
The people of the nation have every last bit of authority.
Do you believe this?

Why is this quote void? Are you saying that the founding father's words don't mean anything?

Saw the flaw in your constitution quote? o.0 ..
They mean something.
They just aren't taking as much effect in todays society as they did in the past.
By far.

Democracy allots for a special measure: Majority Reason.

I know what you are trying to say here, and I know it has nothing to do with whether escalators or elevators should be outlawed. I'd just advise you to look outside the world of black and white.

Yup. The people are the ones who are supposed to run the government, not the other way around.

By far.

So basically you are saying that if the whole country becomes corrupt and people don't care about what the founding fathers say then it's ok?

Democracy is one of the worst forms of government. Rule of the mob. Two wolves and sheep deciding what's for lunch.

I know what you are trying to say here, and I know it has nothing to do with whether escalators or elevators should be outlawed. I'd just advise you to look outside the world of black and white.

I'm glad you are one of the few people who understand that I don't actually want to make escalators and elevators illegal. I don't view the whole world as black and white, but things regarding personal freedom I do view as black and white. I believe that the government has no right to punish you for being careless for your own safety and punish you for willingly causing harm to yourself.

Yup. The people are the ones who are supposed to run the government, not the other way around.

Since we've gotten this statement out, I ask you:

Is that how it is?

So basically you are saying that if the whole country becomes corrupt and people don't care about what the founding fathers say then it's ok?

See, this is where your entire argument has been falling apart.
I never said that I agreed with a corrupt government. You only assumed I did because I stated that the government has the power and abilities to decide what the nations people abide by.

I'm only stating facts. James Madison had an ideal view, but it would never work. The people can not decide for themselves.

Like I said, I do not agree with the governments ways, but I accept the fact that that is how it is.

Since we've gotten this statement out, I ask you:

Is that how it is?

No, it's not. Now I ask you:

Does that mean we can't try to change it?

See, this is where your entire argument has been falling apart.
I never said that I agreed with a corrupt government. You only assumed I did because I stated that the government has the power and abilities to decide what the nations people abide by.

Yes of course the government has that power right now. But does that mean we should just sit around and say nothing?

I'm only stating facts. James Madison had an ideal view, but it would never work. The people can not decide for themselves.

Whoa. So are you saying that people are too dumb to make their own decisions? Why do you think this?

Like I said, I do not agree with the governments ways, but I accept the fact that that is how it is.

Yeah, but does that mean we should just act like it is right and do nothing? We need to speak out and wake people up from this dream.

Your facts are horrible, if everyone was using stairs the death/injury rate on stairs would rise. It's just no one uses stairs so no one gets injured/killed on them.
