it really depends on how old the child is and their maturity level. if the person if incredibly young the video game could shape they way teh percept acutal life and wont be able to tell the difference between reality and real life. If the person is old there are no reall effects in my opinion i have completed all of god of war 1 and half of god of war2 i have completed all the resident evil games, siren(japensese horror game incredibly graphic) and resistance fall of man all at the age of 14. and guess what im not fucked up! well i play runescape which is a game with magic and and elves so i guess im kinda fucked up...................

Having played shooter games a ton since I was about 10 and then found out I can neither aim a gun for shit or survive a rl firefight (well, a paintball game) for shit either I'd happily say that even if they do give you an urge to go out and commit a massacre they sure as hell don't give you the training for it.

    I lol'd.

I don't think it happens to everyone, in fact, I doubt its more than .5% of the kids that are affected by this.

Video games have absouloutely no effect on people. They actually help people take out anger since they can take it out in the game instead of in real life. If people aren't murderers, video games won't make them murderers. Messed up people are messed up to begin with, video games are just a way to have fun, everyone who rants about them causing massacres and such really only want attention.

if you are dumb enough to take a game to real life, then you deserve the max sentence you can receive.

i have been playing them since i was about 8 or so, and i have no desire to kill anyone.

Even then it doesn't have any real effects. I know a lot of gamers at really young ages, and it doesn't make them violent. In fact, it even seems to make them mature faster, just as long as the game is not too violent.

It's true. I have a 8 year old brother that loves GTA san andreas and says things like "DIE BALLA FOOL!" and "MY HOMIE OG'S!"

    i am moderately concerned..

Violent video games are made for entertainment, and some people use them to relieve stress and violent feelings, not me personally. I enjoy the freedom of doing what i will never get to do as long as the law applies to me, such as stealing a car or shooting people.
Shooting games can definitely have an affect on people, but only if the individual allows it.

Well, A child would have to be pretty messed up to think that because it on a game it OK. Most parents say dont try that stuff or some version of that, so i believe its BS

That kid must have had a serious mental illness to let something as low as a game get him like that .. It's really a shame, but don't blame the game .. Blame the dumb one who went out there and did it all.

Because the child has the game doesn't mean that he must play it. Only, the level of intelligence and attention span of a simple child mind is so low that of course, the child is going to play the game even though he has a choice. Anyone should be smart enough, however, to know not to let a simple game go to their heads ..

I think it has an affect on Stupid people. Lets take this for example. A boy in The U.S.A Got a gun and shot someone because he played GTA San Andreas.

It just shows that some games can have affects on STUPID people.

Stupid: Unable to learn to a wide extent.

I think I can work with your statement .. However you are quite wrong ..
The games today only affect 'stupid' people, as Louder said, because they are unable to learn the difference between wrong and right. Louder, which pushed his definition to 'a lack of knowledge', basically said that if you lack essential knowledge and you play a shooting game, you'll go and shoot someone.

Well, Shooter, how about this ..
Some people do drugs while playing shooting games. Therefore, they are TOO lazy to go any further than their bedroom door .. :]

violent video games do not negativly effect childrens brains unless they see that their world around them is actually like that. Most people can distinguish what should be done in video games vs. what should be done irl. Even the columbine teens realized that, they killed themselves when they felt guilty about what they did.

If you play games like Halo, its not realistic thus it shouldn't leave behind bad effects to your thoughts. I believe.
