Care to elaborate? Spam forum banter and all that aside the only thing that's brought it more players was the release of 07 and it's been a steady decline since then so how do you foresee RS making a comeback?

 

Not saying runescape will ever be a "huge" game again, but it has been smaller than it currently is

RS will most likely maintain it's popularity for a while because it's a well made game and has a dedicated fanbase, but I don't see it bringing many new players in anytime soon. In general, MMO's just aren't as popular as they used to be in the past. Combine this with the fact that there are many more enticing free MMO's than RS now days (Just look at Tera or Blade and Soul), and a slew of them for people willing to pay a cheap one time fee (GW2 etc), I can't see many people coming to RS. Younger players like instant gratification and shiny graphics.

 

i agree and disagree with your point about having to put effort into having your opinion mean something on this forum.

i disagree because once you get a mod/admin rank, you can have the shittiest opinions yet you'll still see everyone take them into consideration so meritocracy of opinion is pretty much thrown out the window once the rank is achieved. this can also be said with older members and members with other ranks. for example, a newcomer could have the same opinion as an admin, yet the newcomer's opinion won't really mean much to anybody so the newcomer goes to another website where his or her opinion is on an equal ground with others, and the newcomer no longer has to wait years for his or her opinion to be relevant.

I agree because this forum is more identity focused than many other forums which means you are accountable for your opinions and if you come off as a fool early on, your opinion will not mean much anymore.

 

Haven't paid enough attention to notice anything towards them getting away from Java but they've been trying the listening to people thing for quite a while now

Going to have to disagree with you. No matter how much effort you put into what you say, new members are either shot down by oldfags or ignored. As for being more community focused...You can keep telling yourself that if you want but the reality of things is that we have an incompetent COMMUNITY team who, throughout the year, run a couple of half-arsed events which don't actually bring people together. I'd agree with a lot of the points @Admires has put forward.
