My response to the Russia & Ukraine situation,

Prior to the presidency of Zelensky, i've heard that Ukraine was a corrupt country under the soviet union (pro russian) government? If this is true, then i'm not quite understanding why we're rightfully allowing countries to be corrupt in our world? However, it's corrupt people blaming eachother and evidently, no-one is better then the other hence why nothing get's done about corruption in my eyes.

Moving on, Russia, we all know they want Ukraine, it's been the talking point in all these meetings. We know Russia, doesn't want NATO near Russia, and therefore is using that as a way to enter Ukraine via Media outlets and announcements from Putin. However, Wouldn't taking over Ukraine put Russia next door to Nato? It's a contradictory.

To solve the point above, Ukraine shouldn't of expressed their willingness to join Nato, and should have made a written agreement with Russia. Although this sounds great, Putin stated, the talking is over and applied actions on his "plan for ukraine" started. Unfortunately, Ukraine just needed to remain a neutral country being between NATO and Russia borders. If a written agreement signed by Putin would have still acted in the invasion of Ukraine, then i would express that it would make sense to remove Russia from Ukraine and hold Putin accountable by lethal force.

I strongly believe, there was alot of talking between Ukraine and Russia, however, those talks were not going anywhere according to both sides and it was clear, Russia doesn't want NATO next to their border and that Ukraine wants into Nato for protection.

 

Agree with what you said: Putin surely is a dick, but I don't believe Zelensky is a saint either. Ukraine being a neutral zone would've solved the situation. Instead, he bit when NATO flirted with him, believing Putin wouldn't be insane enough to literally invade Ukraine. Well, he did...

 

Regardless of the initial reasons that have caused this conflict I don’t think war is okay and I surely condemn human slaughter. Let’s just hope this madness is over as soon as possible.

 

Well, this is really the point of Putins war, from the Russian perspective. What would you do? You either allow Ukraine into NATO, which would certainly allow for nukes to be put in range of the Russian federation from that direction, OR you take Ukraine, make it 'a part of the Russian federation', and consider it a buffer territory so that even if you put nukes or other armaments next to Ukraine, it still is not affecting what you consider true Russia.

For me, the latter is the obvious choice. Not only this but installing leaders at various levels in Ukraine would strengthen Russian economy significantly, as many of the high priority contracts for resources can stop being utilized to enrich the West. This is, for the record, what, I believe Putin is seeing.

As for whose in the right and whose in the wrong, I would ask that if you told me not to come on your lawn and I inched further and further toward your lawn with a smile on my face, whose the true aggressor? If you throw a ball on my lawn and I shoot you, then some would say I was wrong and some would say that you were asking for it. Both Russia and [some of] the countries of NATO are Imperialist powers, and so it becomes highly difficult to define with any measure of accuracy who is right and who is wrong.

 

I disagree with the view that NATO frontlines moving closer to Russia and wanting to place Nukes there is the reason for the war. Russia didn't have issues with Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia joining NATO and those countries are much closer to Moscow and other Major Russian cities than Ukraine is. Those countries being a much more strategic location still don't hold any American Nukes. The reason for this is because American submarines hold Nukes that can be deployed a few miles off any Russian coast and hit the targets a lot quicker and do it without being detected and are less likely to be intercepted due to this.

Volgograd produces the least amount of oil for Russia so it isn't really as important as he tries to make it seem.



Also this isnt ww2 the type of terrain means nothing whether it be mountainous or flat we have no problem traversing it with our current Technology and getting troops and vehicles anywhere we need to. Especially in a country as large as Russia we would have no problems overwhelming the air defenses and just hiding in forests while building camps and resources up assuming Nukes aren't ever used.

What I think the war is all about is, Ukraine being friendly with the west and because of that they are getting these valuable export deals that the Russian oligarchs would be having instead. Crimea was taken over after Ukraine got contracts with American oil companies who wanted to help fund the building of oil extraction of the large swaths of oil in the waters around Crimea. Building these oil facilities up would make Europe less dependent on Russian oil and would harm Russia immensely since Europe needs the oil and would no longer be paying extra for the oil since Ukraine places high Tariffs on Russian oil coming through the pipelines going through Ukraine while also causing less demand for Russian Oil.

 

The economy of Russia is crippled. Stock exchange is closed and the value of the Ruble will go to zero.

The longer it will last the bigger chance that Russia will not succeed this war. Ukraine just had to make the war dirty (a guerrilia war)

After this is all over and the whole world has spit out Russia because of Putin then Russia will become a third-world-economy country again.

 

i doubt there will be intervention apart from sanctions etc. If this happens prepare for ww3 for sure

Latest update is Russia has decided to pull out of the north and instead mass at the east (Donbas) and then potentially advance further into Ukraine from there.

Unsure if Russia is intending to fortify and hold eastern Ukraine or if pushing into Ukraine from one direction will be easier (they have made more gains in the South / East than they did in the North).

 

I’m a bit confused with Zelensky lately. He seems eager to join the European Union yet he’s also in talks with Russia who seemed to be only wanting to talk so long as they don’t join Europe. I get that you have to consider all options and try each of them so long as it stops the war, but how can Europe and/or Russia be fine with him trying each option? Isn’t that proof he’s not willing to go for each of them? I might be too little informed though..

 

The European union talks are most likely them trying to keep morale of citizens and military personnel of the country high.
They wont be accepted because they are in a war. But even if the war did end, they would still have border claims conflicts with Russia. These border conflicts could lead to a war with Russia, Ukraine and EU nations if it did join the European Union. And since a lot of these EU nations are in NATO one mistake from Russia and all of NATO is also involved in this Border Conflict potentially leading to WW3.

 

All wars and sanctions are a negative thing and hurt all of humanity. War is essentially androcide where governments send males to kill strangers in other lands while the politicians talk amongst each other. Notice that when politicians go to negotiate, they don't pull out guns and start shooting each other even when the countries are fighting, yet they expect citizens to do this and males are expected to fight and die for no reason.

In forums like this, we can see that people of many countries get along easily. This is true of Discord and online platforms, and even seen in the American high school setting, where people from various nations become friends easily. People don't want to fight each other, but through propaganda of governments they are led to kill each other.
