No one used the word 'hate' in their posts. :/

Plus, it's only 5M which converts to $2.50-$3. No biggie really.

Pretty much this, jagex is squeezing the RS community for the last bit of money they can get out of it IMO. If they directly sold gold, theyd lose too many players, but selling gold like this keeps some of those.

the gold you win is minimal, i had 200 spins to see what the loot would be like and i got maybe 500k gp and loads of exp lamps/necklaces

This just shows how shitty the economy and game in general is right now. Jagex would have never dreamed of giving out 5m back in the day, now they'll do it for nothing.

They also said they would never do microtransactions. I mean they can say whatever they want but doing it is another thing. Consider that if the average RS player doesn't frequent the black market, and are 13 - 15 with little understanding of economics that drive the market. They see Jagex is offering the chance to get an easy 5m then they just go yell, throw fits, and annoy their parents until they buy them a couple hundred spins. It is their form of buying gold.

Well yeah, can you imagine what would happen if it was much more? The economy would be in shambles. Imagine a new Level three getting 5m on there first spin. The game would be easy for them up until level 80+

You guys do realise Jagex is a business? If somebody said to you that you could make maybe an extra £10 Million per year, don't act like you wouldn't. The game isn't dying, it's dying to the old school players, but for every member that quits, more are still joining.

Of course I'd want to make an extra £10m a year...
Still doesn't mean as consumers we have to agree with their decisions :) I can see WHY they're doing it. But I just don't like it as I've played the game for a good 8 years and it's changing a lot, and nobody can disagree that they're going money hungry...

As a business point of view: Fantastic.
My point of view as a consumer: Awful.
