Not necessarily, to find a color on the screen is an operation that takes barely a fraction of a second if written properly, there should not ever be any visible slow down. Some people are saying RSBot runs for about 10 hours using reflection, people here who've used my bot (which works solely by reading the computer screen) know it is capable of running 24 hours a day on a smooth internet connection.
I've never seen anyone from RSBot or SCAR actually show anything that impressed me in terms of mouse-movement, or how much XP and gold they earned. I do know two of the three RSBot developers spent a few days/weeks trying to crack my bot.
A human player doesn't need reflection to operate efficiently and neither does a bot, provided it's programmed well enough. Sure it's more difficult to do a lot of things with color, but it can be done. But for a free bot, for ease of writing scripts, I can see the appeal of using reflection rather than advanced screen reading algorithms and AI.

Well, all scripters aren't geniuses like you :p, and color clickers tend to mess up here and there. Is your bot multiplayer? When you say can run 24 hours, is that multiplayer or one player? With multiplayer, most well written SRL scripts can go 24/7, with the only thing stopping them being some of the few randoms that have yet to be solved by the devs. I think the best proggy with SRL was around 300 hours with 6-8 players on a script called LAME by tarajunky. It takes runes from the magic instructor in lumby and uses them on the ducks in the river.

The 24 hours is in single player, it does all 4 mage training arena mini-games, trains one account at a time, without touching the RuneScape client code in any way.
I've never used any bot outside my own collection, and don't really know anything about either so I couldn't vote or say which is the best. Just thought I should stick up for color-clickers, because I don't think they are inherantly less efficient or unreliable, just more difficult to code.

Wow, nice.

Wouldn't you get banned after 24 hours though? I don't think there's any human who could last playing runescape 24 hours without stopping. My personal best with SCAR (back when it was all color) single player was about 13 hours on an essminer before it failed the abyss random. But, I rarely auto for that long on a single character, out of fear of getting banned. I've found that getting banned whilst autoing is largely due to being on too much. I've had 4 accounts banned.

1. My main. Before the big trading updates, banned for drop trading macroed goods.

2. My script tester. Was testing a script I had made (I'm not a great scripter), and it got stuck a few times, idling for about 10 minutes before I checked on it and noticed. - Not really due to the amount he autoed, but it may also matter if you stand there doing nothing for a while.

3 and 4. Accounts that I tried to get skills as high as possible. I had each one auto about 15 hours a day, and I guess that was too much. Within 2 weeks they were banned.

Every bot out there tells us that never run a bot for 24 hours, in rsbot terms, treat a bot like its you, let it sleep for once. And btw Rsbot is also multiplayer and minimizable so u can do whatever u want or play on a second account.

RSBot is not multiplayer (Well, my definition of multiplayer :p). Multiplayer is when you set up a bunch of players to run on one script, and the script runs one player for a bit, then the next, etc. and then starts all over again until all of the players have messed up. This way, say you have 6 players. Each of them is only one 4 hours a day or so, which = less bans. Unlike RSBot, which you have to stop when you want to give a player a break. I do give it props for using less CPU/RAM than Srl's SMART. (2 RSBots = 1 SMART or so) But I'd rather have 1 SMART looping my players than 5 RSBots that I'd have to stop every couple hours to keep from getting banned.

SCAR=20minutes of a "pro" script, perma banned.
RsBot=27 hours straight of a flawless fisher, 78 fishing, not even a single black mark
What do you think?
:P

if you auto for 27 hours strait you get banned. a bot don't need to be able to run for 24 hrs because if you auto more then 7 you get banned. rs bots hacks the client and sends/receives packets directly from the server. this can be used against you because jagex can make new packets and your bot will use the old ones and since your using old packets you will get banned. scar uses screen colors to find things. not packets. because of this its impossible for jagex to know your automating via automating packets.

rsbot is the best! got me 99 firemaking, 99 fletching, 99 cooking and more.... hella money too

Wtf is a pro script? Only heard of those for RSBot.

Actually, RSBot reads the packets, and doesn't actually send/receive info.

Right.....lol.

FAIL. Your muliplayer can be coded as an addon to RSBot in about 10 minutes. You seem to love that argument, but it is a very bad one.

Pro's

Updates when you start it
BCEL character management
Shows you the IDs of things on the client

(NOTICE: All pretty minor advantages)

Con's

No multiplayer
Uses only reflection - needs updating often
A hassle to get running with the Java and stuff

No muliplayer? Read above. -1 con.
Only reflection? Its called a auto-updater than updates it auotmatically. Some times you need to change a variable or two, but i hear it takes a couple of minutes. a few active people doing that, and its not bad since it updates at loading. -.5 con

Java is hard to get running? If you have a guide, and you know how to follow a guide its not that hard.

You say color is a major advanage... Not really. There is no need for it if you have good BCEL / reflection or what ever you want to call it. And of course, people could write their own color detection method and use it in their scripts if they needed to. An hour or 2 of work, and it could have it, but why bother...

The color vs reflection argument and be a long drawn out one. How do humans see things? They see and reconize images, colors, patterns and such like that. Computers use numbers and such. The way that the computer sees the screen can be using colors, which it still uses numbers, or it could use reflection bcel which also uses numbers.

reflection can do everything color can, and both can be human like, as computers see numbers anyways. Using color is more human like that reflection, but unless you use good coding methods, it will be slower.

Then why don't they do it? I think they mentioned they'd do it in the future, but that hasn't happened yet.

Reflection has nothing to do with updating? :\

EDIT: Ohh, well they don't get it fixed till like nearly a day after the update that broke it (from what I hear). They don't have many devs, and it probably takes more than a few second to fix it. But, then again, I don't know about how often it breaks, how long it takes to fix, so you might be right on that.

Eh, I'm probably just a noob, but it took me half an hour to get running with a tut.

Color AND Reflection is the advantage. Reflection, even if coded well, isn't 100% flawless. Color backup could change that. Well I guess people COULD do it, but do they? No. And I doubt an average Joe who learned to script just for RSBot would know how.

Reflection + Color > Reflection.

@Wild

What do you mean 'a waste'? It makes it better, right?

[Offtopic] Are you really Winterdream? :p

This shiz is getting ruff mmkay?

Look, saying "this many SRL scripts don't work which makes RSBot better" isn't a valid freaking argument!

The bot hasn't got anything to do with how are the forums doing!

I personally like both of them, but SRL == home.

And btw, wtf does mean "SCAR is outdated", SCAR can't become outdated, SRL can, which is rare, only scripts can be outdated...

Ok, fine Color + Reflection is better than just reflection, but color should never be needed and should not be used. I would love you to come up with one thing that reflection can not do and that color can.

Also, updating it should be easy. Speedy made a autoupdater for jmacro, which he kept to himself, and 1 out of every 5 or 6 updates he had to change 1 or 2 very small things which took him like 15 mins to figure out, or thats what it seemed like.

If you use english that can be understood then your post might be valid, but since your english sucks, its not valid since I don't understand what your trying to say.

BTW, it breaks when RS updates the client or something.... Or sometimes when RS updates...

Overall rsbot is the best free bot for efficentness and realism. It has breaks like nexus, can be minimized. I run about 23 bots a day with rsbot. Works wonders.

And on top of that in about 1 or 2 weeks speljohan_ is releasing rsbot2 with a whole load of features! Look at there website under rsbot2 developement section for more information.

scar is unreliable, outdated and plain crap.

rs bot on the other hand updated daily almost, very reliable doesn't get u banned and is plain awesome!!!

I haven't used RSBot enough to know what it can and can't do well. If I used it more though, I'm sure I would a few things that RSBot has a hard time doing with reflection that could be done easily with color.

I don't know much about updating, but from what I know, reflection breaks almost every update.

I don't agree with your first paragraph, but it has been already discussed in this thread.

Second paragraph...Sounds interesting.

scar is unreliable, outdated and plain crap.

All I can say to that is - ROFL! You obviously haven't been around SRL much, if at all.

Unreliable - FALSE. When autoing the right way (less than like 7 hours a day on one char), I've never gotten banned. I've gotten 100 hour proggies with SRL. So it obviously isn't unreliable. (Btw, whats the longest a script has run with RSBot? I know the longest an SRL script has run is 300 hours, and there've been a bunch of 100-200 hour runs too)

Outdated - FALSE. How can a compiler be outdated, lol.

Plain crap - Lulz.
