ritzbits requesting a pardon for scamming (sting)

    Your profile link: ritzbits

Report/post/reason that got you banned: This pardon request is for a ban that was applied 7 years ago. I was banned for attempting to extort n4n0 for 170m RS gold or $88's worth, who was either an administrator or moderator at the time.

Detailed description of the events that took place and why you think we should forgive you:
I came across an announcement thread stating: "n4n0's MSN HAS BEEN HACKED! Paying back those who got scammed." I was selfish and thought it would be an easy opportunity to get free gold from a victim. I didn't consider if the n4n0 had actually been hacked or not or what he had lost. I forged screenshots of a trade to create evidence that scam transpired so that I would be able to scam him, even though in reality I never tried buying from him at all. I was stupid at the time so I didn't consider the consequences, only what I might gain.

The thread indicating it was a sting is here: N4N0's MSN

I'd like to have my account unbanned so I can re-join the community. I don't intend on doing any trading of any sort so I'd be happy to accept a trade ban in return for being able to return. I don't play RS regularly anymore but I do log in from time to time.

I apologize for being dishonest and creating a false evidence to exploit n4n0 for 170m/$88. I'm not sure if the original administrator members from then are still active. It's something I regret and it's also 7 years old, so it's something I think ought to be resolved.

Proof of contacting victims for repayment or repayment of victims:
I'm not sure there's a repayable amount since it was a sting. If there's something that should be done then I might be happy to oblige.

Anything you weren't banned for but want to confess to now: No. I stopped browsing Sythe shortly after the ban.

Did you fully read and follow this sticky thread in the pardon section?: Yes. I read the stickied thread for pardons and the rules for pardons.

Previous pardon link(s) if applicable: I haven't submitted any previous pardon requests.

It looks like I neglected to fully explain what the sting was exactly, sorry about that. Here's the rundown: In 2011, forum administrators created an announcement thread stating n4n0 had been hacked and that his account was used to scam others. n4n0 replied in that forum that he would "ensure everyone is promptly reimbursed in the case of a scamming." However, n4n0 wasn't actually hacked. The thread's intention was to attract dishonest people who claimed they were scammed, but in actuality were not scammed and were just seeking free compensation through extortion. The link I posted (N4N0's MSN) contains some further information about the subject. I was one of those idiots who saw an opportunity, so I posted that I was scammed. I do believe I deserved that ban.

I've sent this same message to Wortel's skype in response to his tl;dr request. I figured it might be best if I replied to this thread as well. If there's any more information that's needed from me that would help this appeal go through, I'll be glad to provide it.

It looks like I messaged an impostor Wortel earlier, in any case I talked with the actual Wortel (live:username). I can confirm this is my Skype.

Your pardon will now go into voting. This will take atleast a week, but might take a bit more in some cases.
Meanwhile, feel free to Request a DNT though if you do, make sure you read this sticky first.
When your pardon is finished, your name will be shown in this thread as either accepted or denied.
Until then, please remain patient, thank you.
