Report a Spammer - Anonymous.

Should the report a spammer posts be anonymous?

We don't want to start a flame war saying that this person reported a trusted member for spam, or what not.

I couldn't care less if someone found out I reported them, so I don't care either way. Neutral on this suggestion.

Not going to name any people as it is not necessary,
But what if a mod is spamming?
I know I have seen this before, and I have been like,
I better not start a flame war.

 

I once reported a global and no one had the balls to take the report :O
But if it was reasonably spam, I don't see any mod flipping out at you.

I don't think you understood the part that mods CAN see who it was, just not normal members viewing the Report a Spammer (archive) section.

I'd lik to remain Anonymous when I report somones post because sometimes I feel like a prick.

This would be very easy to implement, the only thing is... users wouldn't receive a post count increase for their reporting posts, they would get no benefit, it'd be a completely selfless act.

I support the idea, though.

 

They took away post count a long time ago in that forum. If they hadn't I'd have like 9k posts. >_>. I don't see why not, as long as the mods can tell. Someone would have to find a vb mod to do that though.

 

I don't really care, but I agree with Gohan. An option to be anonymous or not.

 

I actually think the mod they use for the report section has the option to choose what user posts the report.

I'm pretty sure that Sythe could just make a new user for report a spammer, that account would post all the reports, then matthew could tweak it so that the IP address that is logged for the report is the user who reported the post. Not a very hard change (an hour - 2 at max). That way mods could still keep an eye on abusive reporting.
