I looked it up. The first part, where it says that "the Earth is 6,000 years old" is made-up.

    Link, please.

Radiometric dating has proven that. Carbon dating is based upon too many variables to be valid.

Why do you believe in God?

Priests - experts on radiometric dating.

J_badri, stop multi-posting, and read the rules. This is your warning.

What the fuck is wrong with you and why are you making things up? Psalm 149:2 states "Let Israel be glad in their maker, the people of Zion rejoice in their king."

That has nothing to do with what you're talking about...

Anyways, I believe evolution was God's plan for the earth. Like I've said in the SFA section, it is possible to believe in evolution and creationism. Don't tell me you can only believe in one.

I believe that Adam and Eve were the very first humans and they were created by god.

Why? because a book said so? a book written by people who thought the world was flat? Im sure they would be smart enough to derive the beginning of time.

Oh wow! The world is 6000 years old because a silly book says so!

Wrong. Carbon dating suggests that the world has been around for millions of years at least. Look at dinosaur fossils. If they existed within the last 6000 years, wouldn't there be some sort of writing about "giant carnivorous creatures that roam the earth"? We have evidence of things older than 6000 years, thus the bible is shown to be false in that regard.

In another example, consider the ice cores that scientists drill for in Antarctica. The ice from where they drill down to is usually around 40,000 years old depending on how far they do drill.

Let me put it for you simply:
    1.God doesn't exist.
2.The earth is over 9,000 years old
    3.Jesus didn't exist
4.You're christian, that's why your confused.
5.Adam and Eve would not have survived alone when they were babies and could not fend for themselves, yes?

People say that religious people must be right because how could 1 billion people be wrong. That's just a logical fallacy and completely false

Don't feel bad, though. Even the Greek's believed in crazy shit

Carbon dating can only determine the age of materials of about 60,000 years...not this billions of years you're talking about.

3...Can't deny that Jesus didn't exist.Probably need to re-study you're history again ;).Whats probably disputed is if he was a normal human being like you and me,or if he was really the son of God
4...I can apply that sort of logic vice versa

(You are not a christian, that's why you're confused)

    Also in that other statement

(People say that atheists must be right in their assumption that there is no God because how can so many people be wrong?)

Let's face it, Jesus almost definitely existed, and almost all Christians are still capable of logical thought. Needless to say, however, that the Earth is over 8,000 years old and the Bible is full to the brim with crap no one could take literally without being off their rocker.

That's where other forms of radiometric dating come in.

What evidence is there that he existed?

Which is why most Christians are not fundamentalists (people who believe the Bible to be completely historically and factually true). I believe in interpretation of the Bible. I am a Catholic and I believe in evolution.

And Shredder, I'm pretty sure there's an extensive amount of evidence that Jesus existed, but regardless I don't think that's the point. What really matters is whether or not he was the son of God.

I am pretty sure the evaloution that has taken place from single cell organisms to human beings would NOT take plave is 6000 years i mean thats just rediculous the things they would have to accomplish in the short space of time

not saying what jesus did was "real" but it does make logic at the time of "jesus" the church was spliting, meaning that one side needed a leader i mean if they already belived in this god made this crap how hard could it be to say i am his son etc etc

i believe jesus WAS real but he was some ordinary guy like u or me. only difference he made a heap of bullshit and got people to write about it. NOT THAT HARD

as for evidence i think the bible itself is enough i mean why would they write about someone not true? and so many people?

You are confused because you are wrong. To believe the earth is 6000 years old is ignorance. More so than believing in religion of any kind. We can't disprove the existance of a god (however we can use logic...), but we can prove the general age of the earth. Don't ask for a list, go look them up yourself. Take a few science courses, read a few books, and then realize how silly what you are saying is.

Edit: psalm 149:2 in my new american standard version says, "Let Israel be glad in his Maker; Let the sons of Zion rejoice in their King."

What version do you have stating the earth is 6000 years old? 6000 years was always an assumed age given by adding up the ages of people throughout the bible, or so I was taught.

If the Bible is your evidence, we must first see if the Bible is a credible source. The testimonies about Jesus are varied in nature, and the earliest one dates to some 40 years after his alleged death.

Religious people are almost as funny as 4chan at nighttime.

If you really want to have a level and fair debate, take out the Bible as your source of information, or kindly get the fuck out.

Actually, Psalm 149:2 says "Let Israel be glad in their maker, the people of Zion rejoice in their king".

Don't believe me? Look it up yourself in a Bible, but when you get the right chapter and verse post it please.

Mdv, your post has nothing to do with the topic. It has a few grammar mistakes as well. See my post before this one, and follow it. I don't think you really understand anything outside of Christianity, as your only defenses are questions about OUR beliefs and quotes from the BIBLE.

You realize the Bible is only a book, yes?
