Quick Question Regarding Jailbroken Iphones and iPod Touches

Hey guys,
I'm not exactly sure where to post this question... so I'm posting it here.
I just jailbroke my iPod Touch 2.2.1 firmware, and I now have Cydia and Installer (which is now out of date). But now I'm in awe of the supposed "awesomeness" of a jailbroken iPod or iPhone. All I get are apps that can change my theme and games that I have to donate money to get.
Is there anyway to expand Cydia? or is that it?
My cousin got also has a jailbroken ipod touch but he has a ton of games and apps on it, and when I asked him about it, he said he had no idea because a friend did it for him.

Help please?

Why didn't you download the 3.0 firmware and jailbreak that?

And Macro, if anything happens to the software, he can restore it through iTunes.

So what your saying is with your Jailbroken iTouch you downloaded Cydia and All you can download (for free) are Themes and Games and nothing more?

Elaborate more on your problem as I have a Jailbroken iPhone

 

Okay here is my problem, albeit not a big one.
I have cydia on my ipod, but all I can download are themes and like 2 games, the rest i have to donate to play.
Is it possible to get access to more games and apps on Cydia? or am i limited to those 2 games...

 

Ohh noo you dont get the games from cydia. Go on cydia and add this source. cydia.hackulo.us

after you add that source go on cydia and search for a app called installous.

after you download that go back to your home screen and click installous.

then on installous click search and find ANY app u want and click it. then scroll to the bottom and there should be a download button. if theres more then one just download the newest verison(biggest number).
after you click that a screen should come up with different uploading websites. just try the top one and if it doesnt work go down the list. on the website there should be a download or save to pc button. click it and
CLICK DOWNLOAD NOT INSTALL

then go to my downloads or w.e its called and click the app you downloaded and click install. it might take a minute or two. then go back to your home screen and you should have the app. some downloads are bugged and dont work. so you have to try different ones.

wrong, jailbreaking does NOT void the warrenty, as the warrenty does not cover the software, it covers the hardware and the software can always be restored back to factory default.

Yes, you need more "repositories" in order to gain access, in cydia, search for the "Community sources" or something similar, and install that to get a large amount of repos installed for you.

and installous is NOT installer, intallous basically allows you to download and install cracked iphone app store applications, usually games.

I would HIGHLY suggest upgrading to 3.0 though, 2.2.1 sucks compared to it.

 

K but i heard theres a lot of problems with jailbreaking the new 3.0 OS, but it's still possible so I might wait it out a bit.
But I installed isntallous and I am now able ot get cracked apps for free and I'm pretty pumped.
But are there any apps exclusive the 3.0?

 

the only problems with the 3.0 jailbreak are exclusive to the 3G/3GS and push notifications which don't affect the ipod touch.

 

BEFORE you do anything with Installous, you need the mipatch for 2.2.1 or 3.0 to install those apps...

put new sources into cydia and refresh it... if thats what you mean
