Question about Account Buying/Selling

I see a lot of major account sellers usually have "ToS" and a lot of them have one sort of term that says something along the lines of "After X amount of days (whether it be 30 days, 3 months, 1 year etc.) I am no longer responsible for this account. Now if you buy an account off of this person, are you basically giving them free reign to do whatever they please after the designated time period is up? My other question is, does Sythe consider these TOS given from account sellers as binding? Like if a seller says that a account is no longer their responsibility after 3 months, and on the 91st day it gets recovered does Sythe still hold that person responsible? If they were the original owner of the account as they claim who else could of possibly recovered it? Can't they just claim that it's your own fault and you must of gotten hacked due to a keylogger or something along those lines? I guess I'm just curious on what Sythes take is on these TOS's that sellers have.

Hello @Sir_Vyvin
If no ToS has been agreed upon, the default liability is 2 years. Sellers may however decrease this up to a minimum of 1 month within their ToS.

You are right, the seller would then only be liable within that time period. This doesn't mean the seller has the right to recover the account after this warranty has passed. If there is enough reason to believe the seller recovered the account, they will be punished accordingly. It's practically fairly difficult to proof if an account was actually recovered or not. However, certain circumstances such as multiple reports on the same user could be sufficient for staff to overrule the warranty and hold the seller liable regardless.

Some sellers offer a very long, even up to lifetime, warranty when the email stays connected to them. If you want more certainty, I'd advise only buying from sellers with a high reputation, making sure the seller is the original creator/owner of the account, and discuss the warranty prior to the sale.

Best of luck!
