Actually no. Emo, emo-violence, screamo, etc all has its roots in punk rock. Emo bands like Jawbreaker, Rites of Spring, etc, and screamo bands like Ampere can all be considered punk rock. However, yes, what some consider to be emo like Hawthorn Heights, etc is really just cheesy pop-rock. And hardxcore was being sarcastic (if it already wasn't obvious), and your list of "FTW" bands is horrible and mediocre. That is all.rise against the machine? LMAO!
man, you dont even know what ur talking about man!
It's R-I-S-E against and R-A-G-E against (the machine).
Rise Against is punk (melodic hardcore) and RATM is something like rap-core or something\
EDIT:
I guess Looming never heared punk.
Emo is not punk, and will never be.
Metal is not punk, and will never be.
Streetpunk, I dont like it so much, but The Casualties, FTW!
Rise Against, FTW
The Offspring, FTW (although, their not punk!)
The Exploited, also FTW
All those Crack rock steady bands (ska-core) like Leftover crack, choking victim, no cash, etc. FTW!
YOU, suck, alot, of, shite, XD, lmao, punkguru my ass.
Raised Fist, also a very good band, although many people don't like it because of the singers fcked up voice!
Btw, although metal and punk are two separate genres they both share similar qualities (Motorhead being my greatest example of this), and there are many genres which merge the two (crust, grind, pv, crossover, etc). So, in a sense you are correct, but then again you are not.
Someone give this kid is 12 year old pop-punk rank again.
