Thank you. I may not be an expert on Japenese Power-Violence Bands or Crust bands but I do know about the genres that I specified in my thread.

 

I'm sorry, but there is no such thing as "emo-punk", it is simply referred to as emo. And there is no such thing as "punk-core", that is a fucking record label for shitty street punk bands. Perhaps the correct genre you're looking for is hardcore? No. I told you the genre of said band which was enough to avoid confusion.

I came on here to see if you could actually suggest me any decent bands, but you went on to say "LOLLOL SUGEST BAND LIK DROPKICK MYROPHSY PLZ".
Yes, sadly Metallica and Anthrax covered Discharge, however, they are far from d-beat.

Since you know so much in the field of emo, then can you suggest me a band similar to Qubec?

 

Alot of things like emo-core and punk-core are slang. It's not an actual genre but it is usually recognized when labled so. I never suggested Dropkick Murphys, I gave advice on them.



Like I said before I don't listen to d-beat, but I had heard a few d-beat song covers. That was all I had to say because that was all my knowledge on the subject. But I am completley willing to widen my horizine of punk so I will probably look into d-beat bands. That is why I also asked for the Kent Brockman link that you kindly provided. (I would rather something I didn't have to download, but thanks anyways).

And I wouldn't say I know alot about emo-core and have now realized that trying to be clever by calling myself a "guru" was a bit arrogant. Just a smidge though.

I mainly focus on original and current day american punk. (that includes canada) This includes bands like The Dead Kennedys, Anti-Flag, Rancid, The Virus, Cheap Sex, The Casualties, Leftover Crack, The Misfits, Minor Threat, F-Minus, G.B.H, Black Flag and others.

A link for this qubec band would be appreciated.

I'm also very into ska if you're looking for suggestions.

And Mr. Guru can you not use Google? I honestly would have thought a guru of any sort would freely have the resources available to help suggest a similar band.

P.S: G.B.H is UK82. They were a punk band from the UK during the 80's, so why did you add them to your list of "original and current day American punk bands"?

I don't always use googles but I do have to when it's not under a specific genre that I listed on my first post.

G.B.H, a simple mistake. I was trying to compose a quick list of punk bands.

I'm sorry that I couldn't help you, obviously you have more knowledge in other styles of punk.

Overall I realized I should have been more specific because knowledge of even one genre of music is immense and not easy to know everything about. I come out of this looking somewhat like a fool but on the positive I was able to help one guy(dropkick murphys)...hopefully and learn about crust, d-beat and Japenese power-violence!

Hardcore is metal, not punk.
Emo is emotionally charged punk, it's still a sub-genre of punk.
Get your heads out of your asses and actually LISTEN to the music before boasting about your knowledge of it.
Punk sucks anyways, the guitar riffs are all shit.

 

I was trying to be the better man and admit some of my faults and be done with this but you just had to fuck it up. I know alot about punk, but only certain kinds of it. forgot to mention, if your a punk guru you should know about every type of punk not just 3 or 4 (how ever many u stated ) types of punk, and last but not least, i got more punk knowledge in my pinky then you have in your entire being.

No, hardcore is hardcore punk and has nothing to do with metal.
No, emo is emotionally charged hardcore punk and is also pretty much dead. Emo is now an incorrect term for shopping mall bands that sing like girls.

I listen to the opposite of mainsteam punk. If you saw my list above and knew who they were you wouldn't be saying anything.





All non-stream punk bands and two of them are current. Punk's not dead it's just harder to find.

 

The Casualties are as mainstream as punk gets, kid. Those bands you mentioned are perhaps the most popular modern day punk bands around, and simply because they have the fashion of what a stereotypical punk looks like, does not mean that they are not mainstream. One look at The Casualties myspace, would suggest that they are mainstream. Not saying their music is necessarily bad (although I do not enjoy that street punk sound), I'm just saying that they are deferentially a mainstream punk band.

Oh, and "listen to google"? I assume that has something to do with when I told Looming to use Google and/or any other resources available, to look up the band I was suggesting to him. Well in the original thread Looming did not say to post links to the bands music, etc, so I assumed I only had to post a band name, which I did. I did nothing at all wrong, dude.
