Proxying help

NOt sure if this is allowed, so if it isn't then this can be closed and what not.


I just need help connecting to a proxy. I have a proxy server to use and everything, just don't know how to connect to it.

 

[Skateboard]

IE

1. In the browser, from the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
2. Select the Connections tab,
3. Under Dialup Settings, highlight the dialup profile you use when you want proxy access.
4. Click on the Settings button to access options for that specific dialup session.
5. Click in the box next to Use a proxy server in the Proxy Server section
6. Click on Advanced
7. Go to the box next to HTTP: in the column Proxy Address to Use and type: http://www-proxy.cis.yale.edu
8. Go to the next space in the column labeled Port and type: (leave blank)
9. Click the 'OK' box to save all settings

Netscape (version 4.7 or later is recommended)

1. In the browser, under the Edit menu, select Preferences.
2. Under Advanced, choose Proxies (you might need to click the plus sign next to Advanced).
3. On the right side, click Automatic proxy configuration.
4. Next to Configuration location (URL) type: http://www-proxy.cis.yale.edu
5. Click OK.
6. You probably will get a window that asks for your username and password. Use your netID and password.

Firefox (version 1.0.2 or later is recommended)

1. Click the Tools Menu.
2. Click Options.
3. Select General in the upper left column.
4. Select the Connection Settings button.
5. Select the Automatic Proxy Configuration URL radio button.
6. In the text box enter http://www-proxy.cis.yale.edu
7. Click OK on the Connection Settings window.
8. Click OK on the Options window.
9. Close Firefox.
10. Open Firefox.

If one of the proxies ips do not work just try another one, not all of them are up all the time. In the list of ips it is "IPort" so make sure that you enter them right.
