Private Reports

Support, I remember looking at a recent report against @chuckle where the guy tried to do a 3 way scam. It nearly paid off as it was a private report and those involved couldn't see what was being said/happening

 

Yeah I have major issues with private reports they are a complete liability and almost cost me 360m to a scam.

If your behavior warrants a dispute then it should be public so everyone can see.
If you are a legit trader you should be able to resolve them quickly and easily.
having them hidden just causes confusion.

also how are you supposed to defend your self if you cant see the evidence against you its crazy

This is a stupid thing, when there is a public report the guy with the most reputation will always will the case. Imagine a newomer getting scammed by an established seller, he would not have a voice against him.

 

That isn't how it works round here, reports get decided by evidence provided. If there if proof of a scam the scammer is banned

 

that is the dumbest thing I have heard if there is evidence that the trusted user has scammed then mods/admins will ban them
they do not take sides.

private reports dont work, they leave a gap where account sellers can be scammed and the only way to protect that from happening is having everthing public

also public scam reports against trusted users damage their sales + reputation, if they are in fact being shady they would want them private


private reports have very little practical use over public ones apart from protecting peoples privacy.

 

How are we newer members sure of that? could very well be a full on circle jerk with mods and high ranks that prevents them to get banned and just shush the newcomers like me.

I feel like you have a banned account and you do not believe the ban is just.

In either regard, you can speculate claims without evidence all you want, but without any evidence it's just a claim. Being an ex mod I can attest to the fact that I've banned higher profile members who scammed new members. All it takes is a report with proof. Doesn't matter your position on the site

 

I agree 100%, i don't get why people want scammers names to be private

 

Support. I like reading reports. When I click on a juicy thread named Sythe scammed me for 2 tril 07!!! and then see "staff read deleted post" makes me sad

 

support. People should be exposed for who they are. If it comes out that they aren't guilty then great otherwise plaster that name on the wall so everyone knows.

 

Support, Nothing should be hidden no matter who it is and no matter their reputation on the site. This is a huge issue on this site.

 

Private Report

The frequency of private reports (imo) has gone up due to the sheer amount of shitty users all trying to set another up. Oh this guy tweeted this guy, this guy ddosed this guy, this guy phished this guy, and so forth.

Even so, private reports are quite vital due to the sensitive nature of quite a few reports that have been handled.

I do not believe there will be any codification of what can and cannot constitute a private report due to the significant differences throughout private reports; however, if a payment is going to be required, I do not know of an instance where the payment was ordered to be made without proof being provided to the individual; albeit, that does not not mean the proof is made entirely public.

The tl;dr would be: they occur more often, but are still relatively infrequent and imo should be handled case-by-case and if there is nothing sensitive, then the report should just be made publicly.
