Got this laptop back in March.

 

you will notice a little gain from the 1600 MHz ram, but given your laptops specs you should be able to run something with a lower latency just fine, so I would try to find something with tighter timings... Then you will really see more of an improvement from your investment.

Once again though, being dual channel, when you run speccy under a light load it will only show you half of the advertised speed. So you will see 800 MHz with the faster ram.

I think if you upgrade your cabel your screen goes up to 120hz..

Not a bad score actually. You could get 7.9 on graphics by downloading the latest drivers, and 7.9 on your memory if you have it running at the correct speeds/timings It's impossible to get 7.9 for the processor since it requires a 5.6ghz overclock which is impossible without liquid nitrogen cooling.

Lol? Why's that? My graphics was 7.5 before I updated drivers and my memory was 7.8 before I set the x.m.p. profile. Reported for spam.

G. Skill makes amazing ram, as does Crucial, Corsair, and the list goes on. I personally am using 8 gigs of G. Skill Sniper ram at 1600 and hasn't failed me yet since I bought it on sale for black friday last year on Newegg. Go with it if you are still looking to upgrade.

Originally bought in December 2010. Upgraded RAM to 8 gb, placed a 64 GB SSD in the summer of 2011 together with a new graphics card.

SSD is nearly full, once windows 8 comes out I will probably do a clean install of Windows 8. Not sure though, might just clean install W7. Going to buy a W8 tablet in January 2013 or something so I will probably do a clean install after I've experienced W8 on there

 

I love how you assume I was referring to the drivers.
For one, it's the type of processor that determines the score, not the GHz alone, IE. A celeron @ 5.6GHz wouldnt hit 7.9, but a 3570k could. And you don't need w/e the fuck cooling you said, a custom WC loop(not that shit corsair crap) can easily cool a gem CPU to 5.6. Before you go asking what a gem CPU is, it's say the best OCer from said batch, like it can reach high clocks @ low volts, or be stable @ higher volts compared to others.

 

So, you just proved that you don't know what you're talking about. I have a 3770k myself overclocked to 4.5ghz with a noctua nh-d14 and my cpu already hits 80-85 celsius. An ivy bridge chip at 5.6ghz would fry without liquid nitrogen cooling (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmSBaizEqkk)

Though I can't find the source, a 5.6ghz overclock is the only known requirement for a 7.9 wei score. So of course most low end processors won't be able to get this score.

 

Saying nothing. This is my old Acer laptop btw, not sure what my desktop's is. I know nothing about what all the numbers mean anyway :')

Numbers are rated up to 7.9 based on your hardware. Ask other people for more detailed information if you need
