    Post Hardcore

Post Hardcore is a false genre. In reality it's bubble gum emo. It's music you chew up and once it looses its flavor (usually instantly) you spit it out in the garbage where it belongs.

These screamo/emo/hxc bands are a joke in every sense. They're gimmick bands that are perceived by pre teen girls as "dreamy" and that's the extent of their effect on society.

What gets me is when they claim to be doing something good for their fans.

I just searched the first song I could think of within the genre and decided to disect it for you. If you'd like to attempt and prove me wrong, please post some positive lyrics.
Lyrics to Is It Progression If A Cannibal Uses A Fork?:

biting the flesh from your finger
you know i just just cant help myself
    i wish it were believe
    but belief is a graveyard
may this light never see morning
    its finally what were not

maybe you're the one thats overrated.
strike and scream much too horrified
    to speak

out of tune this tale of terror
the slow tolling of the funeral bell
i want to know whats going on in that
    pretty little head of yours
everyday is a bone palace ballet

Who needs these cliche/melodramatic/melhoncaly lyrics in their lives? It doesn't even sound good let alone make a positive effect in your life.

Basking in negative emotions is something nobody needs.

By the way, your scene sucks.

I ment to put I like it a bit but I put I love it for some retarded reason. They are like the gummy worms at the corner store. They are good, but the chocolate bars are better...

And no I'm not fat; I weigh 140 pounds

Thats your opinion, but i think post-hardcore is the best genre in the world.

You are basing your argument on that one song, i've never heard of that song before, i may of heard the band but you haven't said what band its from. So i won't say yet whether they are a good or crap band when it comes to post-hardcore bands. Heres lyrics from the first post-hardcore band that pops into my head, it came into my head because i'm talking to a chick on msn (read the whole lyrics):

    A Pistol To My Temple

If I flew into a mountain
    Burn myself to nothing
    That would be something
    Would it be enough?
    A pistol to my temple
Pull the trigger like its nothing
That would be something, but it’s never enough

    This is all an illusion
What do you take me for?
It makes no difference what I do for you
I would give you my life but it just won’t ever be enough

I hurt someone that loved you
    Except that I felt nothing
That would be something, would it be enough?
    I had everything you wanted
It shows to give you nothing
    That would be something
    This is all too much

    This is all an illusion
What do you take me for?
It makes no difference what I do for you
I would give you my life but it just won’t ever be enough
It makes no difference what I do for you
I would give you my life but it just won’t ever be enough

    I’m burning alive
With a pistol to my temple
If we don’t believe this reason for living
Then we’ll never know do I want to know?
If we don’t believe this reason for living
Then we’ll never know do I want to know?
If we just give up give into the pressure we’re losing it all
    We’re losing control

It makes no difference what I do for you
I would give you my life but it just won’t ever be enough
It makes no difference what I do for you
I would give you my life but it just won’t ever be enough

(I'll give it all up for you)

Don't you ever feel like no matter what you do for say some chick you really like, they never like you in return? I feel like that a lot, so i like that song. Yet that is a very very basic song from that band, most they songs are a LOT more meaningful, as i said thats just the first that popped into my head.

Post-hardcore is very emotional music in my opinion and therefore i really like it. I like listening to songs with emotion that means something not some rap bullshit that means nothing at all. Bubble-gum emo, call it whatever you want, its my favourite genre of music, ever since i've heard post-hardcore, i've never looked back. Its always been my favourite and i think it always will be.

You made a good list Damien and i'm impressed with some of the bands you know of since some of them are pretty underground. Heres just SOME of my favourite bands, i don't have the time to list them all, i won't mention any bands you've mentioned though.

    Scary Kids Scaring Kids
    Silverstein
    A Skylit Drive
    We Are The Ocean
    Atreyu

Omg.. mental blank, totally can't think of any others. But yeah, i know a lot since its my favourite genre. But like some bands on your list i don't consider to be post-hardcore, i think some of the bands on your list are just "hardcore" or "metalcore" and other genres. The bands i mentioned, i feel are completely post-hardcore or mostly post-hardcore anyway.

Br00tal isn't even a genre. If it was, it'd be the same false genre as post hardcore.

    Your scene sucks as well

Yeah i've never heard of the genre "brutal", doesn't mean it doesn't exist though i guess.

Anyway, whats your "scene" Inventor? Are you one of those big soulja boy fans? Or a slipknot fan?

Bubblegum emo? C'mon, emo is a fucking ripoff of post hardcore. It sucks and most emo kids listen to post hardcore because they realize 'their' music sucks ass. I think it's a very good genre and if you don't like it, it's your opinion. But nobody gives a shit about your opinion.

I listen to music for the music, not for the fans, band members, etc.
I can agree with you that most post hardcore bands look like emo bands, but that doesn't mean their music sucks. Most scene/emo kids listen to post hardcore too, that doesn't mean post hardcore is emo.

Chiodos has very strange lyrics and songtitles. I don't understand them either, but the music is awesome.
There are tons of meaningful post hardcore songs with great lyrics.
And besides, because one song is shitty, strange, cliché or whatever, doesn't mean the whole genre is.

    I don't belong to a scene, dumbass.
And post hardcore isn't the only genre I listen to.

Not the best, but definatly one of the best!

    Thanks :D
I found this list on the internet with alot of post hardcore bands and some times I take the time to work it through, looking for new bands.
Atreyu is a very good band, I thought they were metalcore, I could be wrong.
Silverstein is pretty good, but I'm not a big fan of them. I haven't really heard of, or just heard the other ones.

(I included a list in the first post)

It's like you picked every single fashion scene failure band I despise and made a list with others to keep me well informed on which bands to avoid.

I voted I like it, but not my favorite. I mostly like Hardcore (Metal related Hardcore, not Rap) alone, but I like almost everything that mixes with it, like Post Hardcore, Metalcore, and Deathcore. The Post Hardcore bands I like are Bless the Fall, A Day to Remember, Alesana, Attack Attack!, Emarosa, Hopes Die Last, and Underoath.
