Post count for bumps.
I'd like to see a bump button, but it would be a lot harder for newer members of the site to get started out, as all of their competetion would have much higher post-count and more page-numbers, both of which may indicate trustworthiness to newcomers/customers. I agree that post count from bumps can sometimes seem excessive, but it also lets the buyer know how much time a seller has invested into building a reputation on sythe.

For everybody wanting a bump button/timer its on the DNS list(do not suggest):

The DO NOT SUGGEST list.

I see several comments on this thread suggesting that which wont happen unless Sythe changes it, however I know OP is looking for something else but I'm posting this here because a suggestion would have to be made to remove bump buttons from the DNS list @ everyone posting about one.

Considering Rich has suggested he wanted to implement something of the sort recently.

i just want to reiterate. The concept of present gold sellers having an advantage over new ones can be mitigated with an autoprune. Heck put on a temporary market mod or two who can head onto the sales pages for an hour a day and merge by hand. This will drop the pages down significantly and get rid of the garbage. Leaving only responses from people who are attempting to contact them as well as the sellers replies. There are only so many sellers using the consistent 8 hourly bumps so after a week or two this would rapidly dwindle to a lesser and lesser amount of work.

I know for a fact many people don't do their bumps by hand nor even check their threads as i have attempted to post on several gold sellers threads for further information only to get another 3-4 bumps and no response from the seller. If they are using an auto script for this they can for a bump button.

I don't know how this particular forum software works EXACTLY but most have addons which allow you to have the forum automerge double posts. I am sure this could be implemented in such a way as to only apply to market threads, but in reality it wouldn't be a bad thing across all the forum categories here as there is essentially no need in the other forums for double posts etc.

Is anyone going to answer my questions RE: How will this actually negatively impact YOU as a gold seller?

Have ypu read any of the post at all? Yes it is a poor way of assigning trust, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Thanks for contributing absolutely nothing to the thread aside from pretty well spam. At least your post count will rise regardless hey. Just post useless one liners everywhere.

You should of really taken that as a simple no support rather than allow it to trigger your visibly sensitive emotions.

Most of the changes happening recently have been on the do not suggest list. Pointing at it and shutting down ideas is a very lazy close minded way of doing things. How is this site going to grow and attract new users if we aren't willing to take risks and think outside of the box?

I've wanted to see a bump button for a while now and I'd love to see it happen in the near future. It's a feature that many other forums have had for years now and would clear up so much confusion and market manipulation.

I'd support this. I do see how post count can be used for trustworthiness but I personally see post count as an accomplishment so to speak for forums. I see someone with a lot of posts and it just tells me how active they are. The fact that most of them on this forum are from bumps has made me shy away from that mindset. People are getting hundreds of posts in a day from bumps, and here I am with around 70 after a few months because I only post places where I want to voice my opinion.

I wholeheartedly agree with this suggestion.

It's beyond annoying seeing a person with 20 threads and the last 4-5 pages are all bumps. How is this not considered a form spam?

Post count has been used as a basis of trust for every forum I've ever been a part from, yes it's foolish but that doesn't change the fact that it happens VERY often.

To me this suggestion goes hand in hand with this one: autobumpers forcing legit buyers/sellers off the page

I can pull a bunch of sythe members who have a shit ton of threads in every market and are getting absolutely NO ACTIVITY on the threads besides their own bumps.

@Sythe i think you should implement an add-on to merge double posts into a single post as suggested in this thread. There is NO negative impact except to the ones who are currently farming post count

Rather than merging posts or anything along those lines, can we not censor various words to not provide post count?

Ex: "Bump", "now online", "PMd", and other things along that line.

I do not think it is appropriate to only get one post for your entire thread definitely if you have constructive posts later on that thread nor are bumps always one-after-another in an easy-to-merge fashion; however, I think constant post count for bumps is ridiculous.

I agree with PA. If this is implemented, it only seems fair to me that it strips all members of their post count gained from any sort of bumping. Meaning that if 900 of my 1300 or whatever posts are bumps, I should be knocked down to 400.

I see your point, but a person with 2000 PC from bumps is more trustworthy in my eyes than person with same join date etc. but without PC. It's a good measurement of trading activity.

Bump buttons is a good solution, but I don't see that idea passing.

No support, sorry
Are you being serious? Bumping for a few months compared to a new user really isn't much difference. You could have several pages of bumps and no actual trades, or actual vouches to make any difference. Also I'm pretty sure Rich is definitely on the idea of a bump button and some form of client or something which would determine posting abilities to define how and when someone can post.

Without bumps ruling the market we can determine who is actually a participant of the community, with vouches determining who is participant of the market; and not just trying to use a measurement of posting to look like they're trustworthy. Why do you think evaders spam the forum to gain post count? to scam someone, the post count gives a representation of trust just because you have been writing "bump" 3-4 times a day - using a auto bump bot at times. The concept is daft, assuming a person with post count defines trust. Post count only defines spam via bumps or activity in the community, posting bump shouldn't be defined as activity, other then you attempting to get your thread to the top of the section.

I think it is fine the way it is. It's been this way since day one. If you aren't happy with your post count then simply post more or make a market thread. Also @ OP quit posting useless comments on market threads. If you read any of the market thread's ops you would know where to contact and you would know that you wouldn't get a reply from a post on that thread.

You are literally accomplishing nothing from this. Also, you dont think a 10 year sythe member who has had a market thread open since day 1 shouldn't have an advantage over a 1 month old account selling the same thing? and also, post count isn't the only form of trust, and you are pretending it is. If you would like a link to some safe trading practices please pm me.

If you are trying to figure out who is more active in the community then simply look up their profile and the sections they post in. I don't believe alot of market users use their own accounts on most of their threads. So typically the op isn't the one gaining "trust or participation" while bumping.

And to be a top tier vader you really only need donation stats and a sweet gfx from what i see.

It's a post regardless, no matter if it is auto posted or not, might aswell just ban auto bumpers from being used instead.

I actually agree to this, although would be difficult to code.

I'm actually closing this because it will never get implemented and it's impossible to code (people would just write different messages instead of "bump" like "online for delivery").
We're hopefully looking at automated (SytheGold) or actual buttons (which don't give postcount) to bump threads without posting on them - so we'll keep the concept in mind.

Partially accepted.
