I'm here to try and make this GREAT suggestion that was denied without an explanation a possible implementation.

Wonders for what? Shitposting for points/koins for miniranks? Because thats all I have seen come from it..

 

Could be a good idea if set up in a way that didn't encourage spam/ mindless posts.

 

I support as well would give everyone fair opportunity to obtain the same thing. It may also increase activity.

 

In regards to spam posting, there isn't much you can do to prevent that, however I see more good than bad coming from this.

 

I like the idea and think it'll do more good than bad. As for the spam it may cause, perhaps reward users with a point for reporting spam which mods will take care of??? just an idea worth considering.

 

A possible way around it could be to limit the system for people who have infractions. i.e. if you have two nfractions you can't trade/spend points until one expires.

Won't help shitposting though.

Great idea. The only problem is do I get a point for bumping? There's no effective way to filter what's a bump and what is a legitimate post.

 

For points coming from posts I think there should be a certain word minimum achieved to actually get a point. Instead of someone getting a point for saying "I agree lol 5char op is fagit" it should have at least 150 characters and make coherent sense and relate to the topic at hand. If not then the OP of the thread can just report the post for spam. There are a few obstacles in the path of this but it sounds like a good idea.

 

All posts should count towards a chance of obtaining a point.

It's easier to implement this way.

 

Think about the incentive for shitposting here.. miniranks are traded for REAL money. Effectively meaning people can come here shitpost up a bunch of points/koins (insert name derivitive of some other shitty sites system) and buy/sell the miniranks acquired.

In what universe is spam=$$$ a good idea?

We have all seen other sites with this system, id go there of I wanted these sorts of features. Next we will see suggestions for "User Groups" and more bullshit features other sites have implemented.

 

Realistically if implemented as suggested in OP, it would take them a while to "shit post" to obtain at least one minirank from the shop. These "shit posters" will realize the effort is not worth the time invested in posting anything that doesn't constitute as spam.

 

If spammers won't be able to get anything worthwhile then what would people that actually post legit things get? They would post less than spammers so in the end they won't really be getting much? So what are you thinking, 1 point per post and like each minirank is 1,000 points? Nobody will get anything this way... If anything the spammers will get more while the legit active members won't get anything worthwhile.

 

This is sythe.org people fuck around on this site for weeks sometimes months to scam petty amounts. Most often >$50. If people will spend weeks or months of their lives for such petty amounts knowing their account will get banned im willing to bet they will shitpost for ranks for monetary value and get to keep on doing it.

Newfags shitpost enough without incentive, that combined with all the vaders spamming up 25 posts on a near daily basis leaves us with plenty of spam to deal with.

Im all for more activity and all that, but this isnt going to bring new members just encourage spam from existing ones.

 

Posting wouldn't be the only way to obtain points. I don't know what the rates will be, but I'm sure it won't be easy, nor hard. This is something to look forward to when posting.

Then let them. I don't see what's the problem if they don't get infracted for their posts. It's unlikely that the majority of spammers will not get 2 or more infractions in the time frame of trying to build up points.

Obtaining a minirank is one thing, trying to sell it is another. Both tasks are not easy, making the efforts of those solely trying to make money not worth it.

Inhibiting everyone else for an anticipated event won't do the site any good.
