There are many plugins that you don't even know exist and will never know exist. Hell I doubt most of the staff knows about a lot of them.

HOW THE FUCK WOULD YOU KNOW THAT!? You aren't a fucking coder and you don't even know about the vast majority of the changes that Sythe has because nearly all of them are for staff or are not fucking user facing. Stop being a stupid argumentative prick that thinks he knows everything. Jesus christ.

Also I'm pretty god damn sure that Sythe is not running a vanilla database so any converting is not going to just work. Richard has a degree in this shit. Matthew has a degree in this shit. Govind has a degree in this shit. I have a degree in this shit. Jesus fuck.

I don't think that's the case. Licensing cost is minimal and I would happily donate if that were the case but vBulletin was used because at the time it was the most appropriate and stable software. It's lost that title, however, but switching to another forum software for something of this size is a pain so our best option is still vBulletin. However, Sythe doesn't feel comfortable with the upgrade for whatever reasons he has, although I disagree.

SEO is what keeps Sythe alive so although I think you're just some sort of conspiracy theorist, I wouldn't even mind an "SEO complex" because as a site owner it's Sythe's job to make sure the website doesn't die and the first step is SEO. What I was trying to address with my suggestions was retaining members and activity. I consider that the second step to having an active community. I'm not happy with the "eventually" response as that could mean another 9 years but I'm not going to start talking shit about SEO being supposedly unimportant.

I wasn't aware straight up abuse was allowed in Sythe these days. Sythe's already said XenForo looked promising for the future, shows how much you know I guess.

 

Yea I agree. Thats why I use them only for business. But even with business, I just love the look and feeling of Sythe. Feels more like a community.

 

I'd agree the software is ancient. While I prefer vB 3.6.1 to SOME of the newer versions, it's so advanced at this point that an upgrade would do the site some good.

Personally, IPB is what I prefer in terms of useability as well as functionality, but obviously we're not going to switch from vB to that, too many complications. I do agree with an upgrade, though. If not an upgrade, at least these crucial additions to this version of vB (if that is at all possible).

 

Just directed towards the general userbase, what is everyone's opinion on XenForo

Do you like it? Do you not? Easier to use, harder to navigate, etc.

This is just directed towards anyone who's knowledgeable with the forum type and it's structure

Xenforo has to be the smoothest user experience of any forum software suite I've encountered, and it has a fair bit out of the box.

I think we can all agree sythe is beyond out dated, if given a good marketplace forum style these forums could thrive even more than they do
