Apparently my ping (steady ~105) is something that's holding me back from going further. I've noticed, as well. I did a lot better and made great plays on the Korean server when I was in Seoul for a year with a ping of around 6.

Anything I can do to improve this? It's not my isp, it just must be their servers. I've heard that they don't have east coast servers, but for a game that relies so much on ping and reactions, that's kind of nonsense.

Champions like lee, zed etc who rely on the ability to make quick calls and movements were so much easier for me on super low ping, and I feel it hurts my adc especially.

Here's the chart for reference:
50b8e96ab9.png

I've seen it happen before, where someone playing the same ADC in blind pick can auto me, walk cancel animation and go out of range before I respond (clicking on them the entire time.)

It's affected my champion pool, my lane win/loss ratio among other things. I don't see myself moving just to be better at a video game, but I wish there was something that I could do to fix it.

While I do feel like it's important, ping isn't that big of a factor. Though the chart may say otherwise.

In general, the gaming population is mostly based in the west coast. The east coast is just weak in most games which is why they don't represent many challengers. Of course faster response time can't hurt.

But as far as improving your ping, i'm not sure. Sorry xD

EDIT: From the east coast. I feel your pain.

Im around 98 ping and it runs pretty smooth. I wouldn't say its the ping :)

i miss korean pc bong
ping was 6-8
nice mechanical keyboard and screen resolution was 2550x1440 and it was only 1.25 per hour
also they had a machine for free drinks such as coffee, gatorade, and corn water.
SHIT WAS LIFE

I have the same problem. My ISP is reaally shitty so i dont get much time to play when nobody else is on the internet, otherwise im 200 ping etc.. sucks, but not much can be done

I don't think you've played on sub-10 ping. You notice. A lot.
Lee plays went second faster, which can mean a win/loss of skirmishes. Did their adc have time to flash before your ward jump and kick landed? There are times when I'll try plays and I kick them away from my team, because by the time my kick hits the server, they've already flashed. Milliseconds matter.

We just need to pray the day will come for the east coast :(

I'm from the west coast, I run about 50-60 ping mostly. However, I've played since beta, have Urf WW, and what not, yet I'm still Silver 3, because I suck balls. :(

east coast will never be fixed
only fix for us is to move to the lan server

109 ping isn't unplayable, not sure where you're at but I'm at plat around that range as well.

I'm really disappointed that they didn't move the servers to Chicago or somewhere central. That'd be the fairest way to do it so no idea why they didn't.

I don't think there is much you can do other than move which you've stated your not willing to do.

Gotta pray that Riot will one day release east coast servers.

I usually get 28 ping but I'm EUW and I believe the servers are in Amsterdam?

I would say ping is a huge contributing factor to a game like league though any time saved can be the difference between life and death.

I've been having higher ping lately using a lower quality wireless card, so I feel your pain. Going from 30-50 to 80-110 is a huge difference in gameplay and it takes some getting used to. You just need to take your ping into account. If you really want to be challenger, move to Cali or something. That takes a lot of hard work and dedication, though.

I play euw with about 30 ping, and i definitely notice a difference when im lagging and it goes upto 100. As long as you're using an ethernet cable to plug directly into your router there won't be much you can do as far as improving it without moving house or trying a new ISP.

This is wrong.
While what you say about ping not holding one back in progressing is true to a degree, a counterargument can easily be established.

If you have high ping you are fundamentally at a disadvantage, all your actions in the game is delayed, the skillshot u shot somewhere may miss due to the delay which results you in missing your target.

I have 200 ping and play at high diamond and have helped people get to masters as well.

I do agree on the chart you sent, it shows the avarage ping distribution of each tier, and there will be oddballs out there. I am one.

If you are really really good at the game the delay wont affect you as much in progressing to higher levels, BUT trust me it does affect the game in a huge way, it will hinder you reaching your true potential, and at a certain point you may not be able to improve couse you fundamentally cant outplay people who can be half a second ahead of you always. I have to think 3 steps ahead, i have to think about where they will move, where they will escape to, looking into the future for my skillshots, orbwalk with a delay, which makes playing with high ping a game of predicting.
Now you have 100 ping and its not too bad, but it shouldnt stop you from improving, you can easily get better with the ping you have now.

So your point Naxious - about ping not affecting ones skill is fundamentally wrong due to the fact that you can present an extreme case such as "i have 900 ping" what do you think now, wont his ping hinder him from playing? While someone playing with 0 ping (literally LAN connection) wont have a huge advantage in dodging skillshots in time, and outplaying oponents much better?

About ping...
You cant change much about your ping, if you have lots of programs open while playing (which im sure u have turned off when u play such as download uploading) that will affect ur ping, but ping is the speed ms, of which packets are sent from your computer->homeconnection to => the game servers
and if you are far away you cant do much but move.

I live in europe so there is not much i can do, however Riot is changing the location of the game servers soon, i have been in contact with the manager of an LCS team asking when said server change was gonna play out, in which he answered that it was thought to be out next year (asked 3 months ago)

They are centralizing the servers for na. It is thought out to be placed in Chicago. This will make the ping advantage in the NA less extreme, and more fair for everyone.

For my case i may happen to drop from 200 ping to 140-150 ping
The current NA server is located in LA.
