Perm ban scammers instead of temp ban

In the recent light of changes we DNT ban evaders, temp ban scammers and only perm ban for the serious offenses people would actually serve jailtime for or worse. For whatever reason Sythe keeps comparing the website as if there's a court and a law which should be treated here aswell. I believe this is a terrible change, though it shouldn't even be a change. According to Sythe temp banning scammers has always been a thing, though staff forgot following this rule at one point I guess.

While I do believe DNTing ban evaders is a proper change and I truely see the positive changes already, I don't think we should keep on temp-banning scammers. Before it's too late I believe we should permban all scammers again, regardless of how much was scammed.

I remember when i had a mind to scam, thinking was a temp ban was one of the reasons i did it... still regret it, but scammers should get perm banned

 

Quite surprised to read this as well, absolutely ridiculous. Full support for making it permanent. There's a couple of ways where I think the whole acting as a "court" thing is stupid, particularly with mods not being able to report evaders themselves as that'd be "policing". But I won't get into that here, the topic is permanent bans for scammers and I completely agree that's how it should be.

Unsure why this was ever changed lmao the idea of that is ridiculous and means there is literally no deterrent for scamming. 100% support permanent bans for scammers. This shouldn't even have needed to be suggested or voted on lol, mind blowing.

 

Temp banned then dnt'd is what I've been told for lesser crimes. Might actually save staff time not having to process dnt requests? Bring back srb's for people to request while you're at it

 

Yeah I think this thread is very misleading if what Desirex told me is true.

No one is getting temp banned in the sense that they revert to a full member after a period of time. They revert to DNT, which is pretty much banned.

 

Yes thats how it currently works, any staff can set a dnt and then temp ban the user if they scam.

The amount of time they wait is determinate to the amount they have scammed with room for staff discretion.

 

I think the way this thread is written is extraordinarily misleading and should be deleted and re-voted on.

You didn't even include what the changes were or how they effect everyone.

From what I understand scamming is a temp ban AND a dnt which is the same as a perm ban currently since u have to (pardon?) to remove a DNT.

The OP conveniently left this out and seems to be misinforming users thus the vote should be tossed.

That doesn't even make sense with what I just stated.

OP literally left out the fact that its a temp ban + a DNT and u have to pardon to get rid of the DNT.

So before it was:

Scam-> Request a DNT-> Return with DNT-> Pardon the DNT

Now from what I understand:

Scam->If under $1000 3 month ban-> Serve ban-> Come back with DNT-> pardon DNT

Scam-> If above $1000 6 month ban->serve ban-> come back with DNT->Pardon DNT

Either way its the same fucking thing so what are we voting on???

IF anything the punishment for scamming was raised because now u have to wait out ur ban length until u can get DNT where u could get it instantly before.

I don't understand what OP is suggesting and it seems misleading and outright wrong if I'm not mistaken with what I've heard - If anything punishments for scammers got RAISED? So why are we voting to re-decrease them back to a standard perm ban? I don't understand the logic and I want to know whos been passing the crack pipe on Staff again.

Sure why not, or why not just get rid of DNT entirely (oh right, Richard still thinks it's successful I forgot)

Also DNT should automatically close a DNT'd users threads in market sections because ever since vaders/scammers have just been going straight into DNT with no ban i've noticed a lot of their threads are still getting bumped by people trying to trade with them and in many cases these threads have contact info so they could still scam people even while DNT.

 

I think temp ban + DNT is not a bad system. What are the reasonings against it?

 

Remember the poster child he quoted for proof that the system worked was I Bleed Duke Blue, who just recently made a post saying DNT is the reason he hasn’t paid anyone back? LOL
