Perm ban for buying gold??

Hi somebody in my discord channel is claiming they got a perm ban for buying gold? An they claim it was rwt from 1 year ago, is this possible?? Can jagex now go after old rwt transactions or is this person not telling the entire story an most likely got flagged for selling? Thanks in advance for your feed back.

 

Never heard of someone getting banned for buying gold, people only get banned for selling. I wouldn't say it's risk free cause you're still breaking rules, but ban rates for buying are extremely low / nonexistent. Also wouldn't be a good decision for Jagex to perm ban a gold buyer when they can temp ban him and keep a potential bond buyer.

well , its really rarely to get ban for gold trading , but i got banned as well 5 years ago and lost 150m.
always put some junk on trade and make the deal&trade somewhere good g.e with alot of people

 

I've had an account banned for buying/selling recently very quickly - I think these bans are rare though.

I've also had an account that i've rwt'd on consistently for 6+months pretty big amounts and no bans as of yet.

I think it's very unlikely to get banned for buying once or even a few times and i doubt they trace them back from years ago.

It does happen, it's just not that common. I highly doubt it was a delayed ban though.

 

I suspect most people who claim they were banned for rwt were actually botting.

 

I have had RS3 gold removed off of my account before after swapping GP (they accused me of buying the gold) but after I took to reddit I got the GP back.

So for a RWT ban. I mean, I think its extremely rare that it happens but I think it does occasionally happen, but I think it's more likely the GP would just be removed.

I don't think it's in Jagex's best interest to ban buyers though as this will just negatively affect their revenue.
