[Pending] Let's edit the repayment requirements.

Hello,

So going down the repayment list I have noticed some things that kind of stuck out to me that were a little concerning. I went ahead and edited the current R&R to make it a little bit more.. "Involved" if you will. Basically, if you go down our current list you'll see individuals claiming old reports from however long ago, recently unbanned / unDNT'd users claiming reports, inactive users claiming reports, and more.

These edits are to make users more involved and be a little bit more fair to the community. Feel free to add any feedback or other valid suggestions. Anything that sticks out, I will add it in a quote to this post.

Rules and Requirements Currently

You must fully fill in the template below to request a refund

1. Good

Your Sythe account must be at least 6 months old and in good standing (i.e. not DNT'd or banned) in order to request a refund.

2. Add the rule of 6 & 6. Account must be 6 months old and 6 months of good standing. (That means no infractions, DNT, TWC, and BAN within the past 6 months.) [Exceptions for temp DNT's / TWC's]. We could make it a perk for $1,000 donors younger than 6 months to bypass that rule.

Your valid Sythe report must be at least 2 months old before you may request a refund

3. Set a new age limit to reports. For example, I think that older than 2 months but no older than 2 years and 2 months is fair for eligibility. This gets rid of all those people who were scammed and disappeared for 5 years off that list.

4. I would also like to add in a stipulation for activity on the site. I am proposing if you're not active on the site in the past 5 months your repayment should be removed from the list.

The report must have been reviewed and approved by a staff member

5. Nothing to say about this.

There is a $300 cap per user across all repayment requests and a $100 cap per individual repayment roll.

6. I think this is fair for right now.

Staff reserve the right to deny repayment requests at will and have the final say on what repayment amounts will be (for example when an old report is ambiguous about how much was scammed)
The following types of scam reports are INELIGIBLE for community repayment:

1. Impostor scams
2. Dicing scams
3. Double-spending scams
4. Account-for-account trades
5. Stolen account items/wealth
6. Scams where the perpetrator does not have a Sythe account
7. Purchasing Software / Codes without seller showing proof of ownership.

I wanted to add something about post count into a couple of these but couldn't think of a fair number.

 

While I like your suggestions, I do have one area of concern.

It does make sense to a point to limit the people who are allowed to get Repayments but I don't fully stand behind limiting people who are inactive or those who recently came off "DNT" (I think is what you meant). These people at one time or another were apart of the community. I think saying "only active people" can get paid back from the site is kind of off-putting. I would of never gotten repaid if I had to be an "active" user.

Maybe the wording needs to be changed there, idk. I just come on here from time to time and do deals and get off. I don't care about posting and getting my forum #s up because I did that on other sites like 10-15+ years ago. Shit, I don't even ask people to post on my vouches anymore.

 

From my perspective the community repayment has been just fine so far. I don't see why specifically it needs to change. The question I ask myself when reading your proposal is 'what specific problem is being solved?' by implementing the changes. I don't really see it.

And from a principled point of view. A scam is a scam. Whether or not someone is a donator or a 10+ year member shouldn't matter as to their claim.

Activity is a hard thing to measure and an easy thing to cheat.

I don’t think we should be overcomplicating things and I think it’s fine as is. Some more often repayment rolls would be nice though, so that if the website ever goes down forever, Sythe won’t be the biggest scammer out of them all.
