[APPROVED] Other (Game) Markets

I've been thinking of restructuring the market a bit. We have a few top-level sections with active sub-forums, but aren't organized in a way to let them really "shine", so to speak.

The layout of the Other Game Markets and Other Markets are as follows:

Other Game Markets

• Pokémon Go Marketplace
• League of Legends Market
• Overwatch Market
• World of Warcraft
• FIFA Market
• Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Market
• Rocket League Market
• Other MMOs
• Other Games​

Other Markets

• Xbox / PlayStation Sales
• Steam Sales
• Real Life Sales
• Digital Currency and Non-Game Sales
• Guide & eBook Sales
• Software Sales
• Web Market and Services

I was wonder if some of these forums could be reorganized in a way which make more sense. For example:

Steam Marketplace

• Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Market
• Defense of the Ancients 2
• Team Fortress 2
• Steam Accounts
• Steam Games
• Miscellaneous Steam Sales

I'm not sure which markets are the most active or make the most sense, but open to ideas on how the forums can be separated or restructured or if you feel this will be useful at all.

I think it's a good idea to expand the sections for other games. It would be very effective in correlation to @Sythe 's idea to change the navigational interface to increase visitor activity.

There would be SEO benefits of having less generic sections for other games. From looking at "Other MMO's" as an example it would probably be a good place to start research.

You could either eyeball which seem to be popular in that section, or poll which game/s from that section users would like to see have it's own section.

Another option is to jump on the hype of other games, just how we all did with Pokemon GO. Although Pokemon was churn and burn, the traffic attracted to sythe at the time was apparent to everyone with the fact both the discussion and market sections for the game were active almost 24/7. Who knows, maybe one day we'll all jump in at the right time on the next Runescape, World of Warcraft or League of Legends.

From a business point of view regarding Sythe.org's future it'd be wise to expand and encourage other game markets in ways the site hasn't done before. I have no analytical data for sythe, but I'm very confident most traffic is from runescape related key terms, and most users are from the nostalgic world of runescape we experienced growing up. On one hand this is great, however on the other it's a shame. Sythe.org doesn't have to be runescape centered.

H1Z1 brother.. all the way, the game is on the climb, many big streamers are investing time and effort into it.. I think the market on Sythe for h1z1 is extremely weak if even existent

 

Yeah I'd recommend H1Z1 get its own forum, it's a pretty big game, much bigger than rocket league imo.

 

I highly agree with this. The LoL one is extremely active and should breakout for its own forum. Probably has to do with LoL being the biggest game currently.

 

Pokemon GO definitely needs to be moved down, honestly markets should be based on popularity of the game itself, except for the origin purpose of this website, Runescape.

Games that should definitely have their own markets from a top to bottom list should be..

Runescape (Obviously)
League of Legends
Dota 2
CS:GO
Overwatch
H1Z1

There's more, but I feel like these are very crucial games, especially Dota 2? It's the second most popular game in the world, similar to League of Legends.

 

I think TF2 is a pretty good choice as well. Not that popular of a game, but the market is pretty huge.

 

Not really familiar with it, but you sure it's up to par with the game above?

The reason I didn't put H1Z1 into my post is because I thought items were marketable, but not trade-able. Wasn't 100% sure though.

 

Yeah, the only critique is the new trade lock they've placed through steam. You have to wait 14 days before you can trade a skin again.. which honestly sucks but still, there should definitely be room for a market! =)

 

I personally only use the rsps and 07 markets but, I suppose its good for all.

 

Just saw this. I think it's a pretty good idea and would make some things a bit neater around the forums. Doing this wouldn't really change the way the site functions but I see no reason for it not to happen.

 

is pokemon go still around? and do people still buy accounts for that?

In response to the OP: It should definitely reflect activity/sales whatever that may be. A restructure would look nice I'm sure even if it's small changes.

Your idea for the Steam Marketplace is great & I like the order of games. Not really sure if DOTA would deserve it's own forum but I also know nothing about DOTA aside from it being a MOBA like LoL.
