OSRS gold prices - Good investment or will it drop further?

I believe while we may see a slight increase in prices of gold at the moment, I don't think it will last long before it will decrease again.

True. Mobile would bring in millions of players. And I'm not kidding. Look at pokemon nerds, brought billions of profit to the game itself. RS is F2P also.

 

While I do think there will be an influx of new players / returning players who quit a long time ago, in about 3-4 months time after mobile release, I personally don't see a more than 5-10% increase in overall playerbase.

We have to remember, today's generation and the games that are making it big right now in the app stores. Short attention span, easy to play, easy to follow, pay to win, short dopamine circuit loop reward kind of games.

Runescape is a long grind, and while it might not be complicated for us, for new players adapted to a genre of 'quick play, quick' reward style games, one should wonder how many new players we will actually attract.

Of course, the initial surge of older players that quit when EOC/RS3 was released, those are the players that will help our numbers by an estimated 10% or so.

 

A lot of places were buying at around .7 a week or two ago, already decreased back to about .6/M. Feels bad man, I saw it coming though.

 

Competition is too great, there is probably 100 gold shops and over 50+ dedicated to selling/buying gold. If you can store gold securely then it'll probably be a wise bet to store BTC whilst that's going down.

On the one hand, youre completely right. Lots of downside risk, little upside potential.

On the other hand, I want to be quiet and let people actually "invest" in gold and drive the price up, even if just temporarily.

 

Well let's be realistic here, now we have the tax in. A 1 Billion stake is only 10 Million in tax.

1 Billion in gold = $1,110 CAD (roughly)
Taxed amount? = $11.00

So for every 1 Billion gold through the arena, assuming the maximum percentage of tax, 990 Million is still there.

This is not going to effect anything with the current amount of GP coming into the game. The Duel Arena is basically used mostly for RWT - so this amount isn't near as much as it should be.

The price of gold is not going to sky rocket, or drop down, but in the long run it's going to continue to drop.

 

It seems to have stabilized for a few months now. IOS and Android official public release is in a few weeks so we'll see the impact

07GP is a grey are for "investing" its not a safe place to hold a large amount of money, as not only like a normal investment you face losing value, you risk losing it all to bans or hackers.

That being said I would like to see 07GP stay at this current price and with mobile release maybe a small increase, however this will be short lived.

Gold has always been regarded as an investment, and even if we are talking about a pair of jewelry, our ancestors thought it was a good investment in the future, so it is.

 

i bet gold will top out around 1/1m after mobile and then slowly decrease as people leave the game due to it being a grindy game and you can't do everything you want to on the app

 

I was told the gold sink for this was 28b+ per day?
