Guess Optimus users get a minor setback..

 

You realize that when you work for a company such as jagex, and have an actual role, you don't just go there and get min wage on the hours they call you in for..

You actually have a signed contract and a salary.

 

This isn't optimus - This is really just a precursor to prepare the RS framework for it.

The argument about bots being "killed" would be much more effective if Runescape weren't run in the JRE; for example, if it were actually an executable, and not an applet. The reason that Runescape is so prone to being "botted" is due simply to the fact that it's designed to run in a browser. This is a vulnerability that Sun recognize when they originally designed Java, and it's the same reason why Java doesn't give a user explicit control over pointers.

With that being said, this is why it's more simple to create safeguards against "bots" as opposed to color-pickers (I understand that there exists a group of people on this thread that know the difference, but in reading the past five pages I see that some individuals use the terms inter-changeably).

Bots will never die. Optimus will increase the amount of time it takes to get a bot release stable, but nothing so much as to "kill" botting unless the programmers decide that it isn't worthwhile.

So yes - those of you that have this self-righteous feeling that they deserve to be able to sell their gold because they're the hipsters using a color-picker will likely get what they wish. In any case, it will cause the price of gold to increase should the leeches get slowed down. In the grand scheme of things, it's a drop in the ocean.

P.S. The kid raving about how programmers are nerds slightly amused me; just the thought of some kid in secondary school that plays Runescape calling other people nerds strikes me in a funny way.

 

From your history, you should know that early scar / ayran are injection. But soon afterwards scar became color.

The main differences between them are (For you and anyone else may be reading this):
1: Color will almost always work, while injection/reflection can be broken down by jagex internally.
2: Injection and reflection is more reliable, as it gives the scripters much more accurate data to work with. While color scripts can be unreliable when made by new scripters as well takes much longer time to make a script of equal performance. It usually will stay up for a much longer time than other injection/reflection equivalent script


Whether or not they are using JRE or downloadable. It still can be botted, but just takes more skill. But it would also result in them suffering in player count, as most kids can play these games at schools or public library and without a great computer.

Also in order for it to be a successful computer game, it'd have to be a good game in the first place and have a great community of players. But from looking at its current status and the fact their game was almost 70% botters at a point (Back when after each update, the number of players would shrink from 120k to like 25-35k for hours)... I don't think it would do well.

Simba can do randoms, simba just can't do all randoms.

Pretty sure simba can do everything other than prison pete balloon one.

Why do people care about what this Jacmob punk gets for his salary?
You should not care about what this Jacmob says, it's what he does that counts.

 

Whatever he could do, doesn't personally affect me and others.
So a lot of people doesn't care about what he does, get or says.
So we just don't care about him period.

 

That's comedy. It takes them weeks to rebound from simple daily updates, let alone a bot nuke.

 

I don't understand why people rave so much about jacmob, it's one guy. Their are plenty more educated people out there.

 

Jacmob works from home 6/7 days of the week, and only comes in on Fridays, and kind of just does shit for the rest of the J Mods. Jacmob's post presenting the Optimus platform is merely a psychological attack on the botting community. Obviously when a developer of arguably one of the most popular botting sites goes to work for Jagex, and nothing is said publicly as to what he is up to, all we see is rumours. Jacmob likes to watch the other J Mods do their work, rather than actually being allowed to take part.

Anyways on a serious note this wasn't Optimus, it was the platform for it. I think it's going to be the end of all Injection/Inflection bots, colour bots will survive a little longer.

 

Can someone give me a link about optimus 2 on the forums, not the news, I want to read it.
