I like the suggestion but im not to sure if it will work or be worth the time/money, maybe running more competitions or advertising on other runescape related websites could be the best way.

 

I think trying two tournaments at the same time would be a good thing; they'd just have to be a bit different, like a tournament and a competition/contest running concurrently.

 

Another tournament starting just shortly and another event out in the next day or two as well. Sorry for off-topic!

Sorry, but as much as I like the idea of competitions, how is that going to attract new members?

 

The idea of competitions is to stimulate activity among current members for little to no cost, thus helping draw people to Sythe and making the site more appealing overall to newcomers from a community and activity standpoint.

Seems like a much better way of attracting site traffic that will stick, which is the whole point of the OP, isn't it?

Multiple people have been listing cons of the original idea, so I was offering an alternate choice.

Edit: - An alternate that's enjoyable, inexpensive, and not tedious. Making hundreds of mules that will get muted and banned before long is extremely tedious and potentially quite ineffective. RS07 mules would be rather expensive because of this as well.

 

If your looking to drop money and time on creating mules on / paying for membership that will most likely end up getting muted or banned... A better alternative would be to reach out to other gaming communities similar to sythe.org in regards to purchasing advertising..

I believe it's been suggested before, but no one has been willing to shell out the cash, but if your willing... I'm sure it would be a fairly simple way to bring in a new user base.

 

How much do we charge for advertising on Sythe.org? if you know? I was thinking the same idea, as I've noticed sythe doesn't advertise anywhere.

 

people need to get out of the spam forum and post around more often, I also think Sythe should introduce better section for console gaming as the new gen are about the release.

maybe things can be done for the staff team to interact with the community more and stuff. Livestreams and stuff like that. Maybe even game console tournaments such as fifa and call of duty (even battlefield which is better).

 

I think I will focus on working out some form of advertising on other Runescape/gaming websites. I would definitely be willing to invest money for this, I'd just like a rough idea on how much something like this would actually cost? I'm sure sythe.org prices are fairly similar to other websites?

It's either 2k or 4k per advertisement per month if I remember correctly - this may have changed with more/less traffic etc however though

It depends on how sythe.org was to market itself. Currently it is still a runescape orientated marketplace. With that being said there is only a select few websites where advertisements would be viable, the ones that are runescape/blackmarket orientated. If sythe.org appealed to more markets however, it would potentially draw in a larger crowd with its advertising.

 

This has been tried before and it just doesn't work very well. It needs to be organized and there really needs to be something different that would make people want to A) do this and B) actually join Sythe.
