Operation: Make Sythe Awesome Again

I would say something like "Sythe.org | Market | Forums | Community" or something, but this is a good idea

 

I wouldn't constitute this as leaking, since I wrote it and its not exactly bad.. but I had already written one and it received a good amount of support and it was claimed 'After vB4', should still be in the staff lounge, just for my threads in there (it'll be a few pages in).

 

1-3) As much as you hate it wait until VB4. It will be different and if the staff redesigned the games section and later the whole website it may not be congruent. The length of time it has taken for VB4 to come out annoys everyone but we must cope with it and just be patient. Forget that <<< Sythe has made two posts not indicating that VB4 isn't that big of a change as the mods/admins have led me and others to believe... SuF get to work

4) If it has been tried and did not give the wanted/needed results then why try again? Perhaps as Josh0is0here said we could have members go into RS and advertise for fun but pouring money into something that will not guarantee a return is pointless.

5) It's their choice if they want to be involved more than they are required.

 

I think you can't blame staff fully for the vb4 stuff we don't know when it's being released and when it does it will be a suprise I hope.

As far as calling staff out because we aren't involved enough and I know some mods don't talk much. Although you can't tell us we should go in irc more. As Richard put it before IRC is seperate. I don't personally go there cus I can't on my iPhone.

That will never happen... Anyway on the topic of the community on Sythe here, I am not in a good position to judge. I just joined recently and I so, I have no prior knowledge and experience of the Sythe Community in the past.

If you have to ask me, there is definitely very little events/Competition. In fact I have seen none over my stay here at Sythe.

Sythe is still awesome currently.

 

I have been a member of the community off and on for a quite a long time. All of these points I strongly agree with, because I have seen it go downhill. We don't have to try to capture the old feeling of the forum we really just need to generate more community activity, because I've noticed a huge drop in activity in the non-market forums. There needs to be a draw to Sythe other than you can sell Runescape stuff here, we should be recognized not only for our market but for an amazing community. It has all became the same threads over an over.

I would also love to see stricter policing of the Guide section. I can usually go in and find a couple of guides that are plagiarized.

 

I've been around for really long, and lurked more than I have posted (as my postcount shows).

The community is bad. Scammers are rampant. Many people are unfriendly and people don't share ideas unless there is something in it for them.

Sometimes I feel like people are getting too attached to this website.

As for the advertising, what have you tried in the past? I think probably the most important parts would be the location of the ads, and the impression they give of the site. The ad would probably have to focus on the fact that it is a huge, virtual market that offers the opportunity to make money playing your favorite games. It would also have to be located somewhere that is heavily involved with gaming, like IGN for example (but im sure IGN costs would be much to high ).

 

within runescape would be ideal, IMHO.. Bots that use autotalkers, stronger word of mouth and advertising as many places as you can.

Also; one of the things I notice is that, despite us being easily the largest Runescape Blackmarket trading forum, we're ranked second on google hits, why is this? simply because I don't have the buzzwords that are necessary to hit that 1st google hit.. google "Rs Blackmarket" and you'll see what I mean

The Problem with vB4 is that is started with few staff members posting on certain suggestions that things will be done after vB4, hype was built and staff assumed that anything thats going to get done will have to wait because this is more of a critical update than anything else, Even I started to believe it, putting off certain updates to the OGV because I wanted to revamp it when the forums got a facelift.. I think a form of poor miscommunication got build, a long with hype and tension that we all want to see this forum evolve. I feel bad that I've kind of lured certain users into thinking that vB4 is the motherload of updates, despite what I've been saying is true (about features of vB4).

Then state a few larger market/boards/the purpose of sythe.

The main thing in an ad is the images, imo. They capture and entrance the viewer.

 

Advertise the new Diablo market, acquire a bunch of ad spots on sites similar to sythe and wherever else they can go, and specifically detail our new accommodations for diablo III players
It makes sense that previous advertisement endeavors have fell flat because people have already heard of sythe if they've ever searched runescape cheating/gold/training/black market/etc since we're always at the top of google.com. So advertising RS black markets would be beating a dead horse. But D3 is new and exciting and there's NO well-established community that offers a black market for it, I know because I've looked for a good hour last night when R2P suggested it!

 

I agree with this. Now is the perfect time to strike by getting the D3 market out there. The real-currency auction house is closed which means everyone is going to be searching frantically for Diablo 3 black markets.

 

Diablo III section seems to be up and running.

This is in my eyes the most vital aspect to a successful site/community/and anything e-business related. The amount of growth and change increased advertising would do, is phenomenal.

Since Sythe already has an established name, which dates back to 2005 (ithink?), acquiring banner spots and what not on Runescape related / other games sites wouldn't be an issue.

I'm going to say its fair to assume that the Owner makes a large profit monthly from all these donators i see. The up-keep would be around $2500 monthly, at most. I'm not saying spend all extra on advertising, but a good 25% put into it ontop of what is spend now (if any) would prove extremely beneficial.

I've lurked Sythe for a while, i only joined after the LoL section was introduced as that's my main interest.

TL;DR - Advertising should be priority. Consistent advertising will make Sythe 1000x what is is at present.
