Obtaining an Unused Name?

Is there a way to try and have an unused name in RS3 unlocked or made available in order to change my name to that name?

 

Unused name unlocked? Am I missing something here? Explain.

I think I understand what you mean. Most names are given up due to inactivity. Jagex doesn't tell you when the name will be available like they used to. They said they will tell us when they start doing that again. I guess you just have to wait and see.

 

From what I've heard sometimes if you email them in about an inactive name they'll release it for you, but they won't transfer the name to your account or anything.

 

They don't do this anymore, that's how rare name traders were getting rare names and Jagex eventually caught on back in early 2012.

Either wait until Jagex releases them or buy them. You're not going to find any rare names open nowadays.

 

I knew a guy who slept with a J-Mod for a rare RSN.. So if you're down to get dirty with Mod Mark, pm him

if you email them, they probably wont even reply or give you a stupid reply

 

Thanks for all the responses. I was hopping emailing them would work, but I had heard that they stopped doing it as well. I guess I will just have to wait...

 

Most Pmods get theirs by asking Jmods in game to release them for them, if you get friendly with a Jmod they may do that for you

 

It's possible, but if you're a no namer its virtually unheard of, lots of my friends have tried requesting multiple times to be told "if we release a name to you, we have to do it to everyone"

Which address did you email, and what did you say?

Did you have one name in mind, and did you know for sure that it was inactive?

 

If you're account is maxed they're much more lenient in granting unused display names. Jmods typically do it for close friends and stuff. If you're not in good with a jmod you have to wait like everybody else.

 

You have to become really good friends with a jmod.

 

How do you become friends with a jmod when you bot and do other illegal things -.-

I've heard of some high level players contacting Jagex Mods directly to ask them but this tends to only happen if you are a maxed player and the name that you want is the same as your real life name, or some kind of shorter variation on your current name eg. removing numbers.
