Obama's Speech on Education

How is number three a sign of propaganda? Of course you are going to edit stuff out that can bring up controversy. Any person democrat or republican is going to do that.

 

MSNBC is garbage.. I only watch CBS and even that is quite usually garbage.

I'm tired of the news in general. Nothing is unbiased these days.

This speech was just continually process garbage that could be been something worth while.

 

That was number 4, and I was simply stating why it was such a bid deal up until the speech. (That's what the thread asks) It was suspected that the entire speech would be "socialist propaganda" and such.

 

Garbage or not, it is not a biased opinion when talking about facts. The Republicans did NOT release any formal statement about the speech. It was ultimately the own medias doing, as it is quite often.

 

Because athletes contribute little to nothing to society, besides money (a small portion of what they make, at that). Why not become something that actually helps people like a scientist, doctor, lawyer, etc...hell, even a factory worker contributes more than a football player.

Its just like the ads against drugs and alcohol..it could have had a huge difference in a childs life, and it might not have..we just don't know.

 

Because the number of people that actually want to become a professional athlete overwhelm the number that actually does..i dont see a problem with that statement at all. He is stating the truth.

 

It wasn't socialist propaganda at all. Like inventor said, it's just the same things we've been told our entire lives, being reiterated by the president. It was a bit boring, too.

 

You can argue this after you disprove my statement. I am positive the speech had socialist undertones.

 

Yeah, our state superintendent thinks that Obama is the devil, but we were allowed to 'watch' the video.

However, the video was shown at 2:00 - 2:20, when all the upper class are gone. Not to mention the video was shown the last twenty minutes of school and the permission slips were handed out last thing on a three day weekend. So about 400 of the 2,200 kids actually saw the video.

I have it Tivo'd and I'm going to watch it after soccer today.

That being said, I don't agree with what the other guy said either. I just didn't take it upon myself to call him dumb or insult his family.

 

Name one thing Obama has done Besides take trips,Speak too other world-leaders. (Must benefit EVERYONE).

We needed one as well. However my teacher was clever enough to say "If you DON'T want your student to watch the video, sign this form and return it." That way, if they don't return the form, it is essentially giving them permission to view it. As well, it was on during my AP Government and Politics class, so it is kind of important to watch

I'm excited to see the joint congressional meeting tomorrow. A president does this usually once during their administration and he's doing it only 8 months or so into his. Topic of choice, health care (go figure). This will really set the stage for what is to come during the rest of Obama's term.

Athletics isn't a valid career choice for most...i don't see how this could be wrong? They do nothing for society besides donate money.

 

People still seem to think very general speeches have any sort of significance at all. This was a fairly unimportant speech geared towards people that wouldn't listen to it.

I go to a public high school, and it wasnt required to show it... My terrorist teacher wouldnt let us watch it, so while he was talking i just read the transcript instead. One thing i dont get, is why people call it "controversial"... I read and watched the whole thing, and i didnt see anything "controversial"... it was just "do good in school, dont drop out, etc"

 

They have spent billions and trillions of dollars on nonsense junk, and you are worried about this speech?
