The Mahābhārata, an Ancient Indian epic poem, accurately describes a nuclear blast in ancient India:

"Gurkha, flying a swift and powerful vimana (fast aircraft)
hurled a single projectile (rocket) charged with the power
of the Universe (nuclear device). An incandescent column of
smoke and flame, as bright as ten thousand suns, rose with
all its splendor.

It was an unknown weapon, an iron thunderbolt, a gigantic
messenger of death, which reduced to ashes the entire race
of the Vrishnis and the Andhakas.

The corpses were so burned as to be unrecognizable.
Hair and nails fell out; Pottery broke without apparent cause,
and the birds turned white.

...After a few hours all foodstuffs were infected...
...to escape from this fire the soldiers threw
themselves in streams to wash themselves and their
equipment."
"Dense arrows of flame, like a great shower, issued
forth upon creation, encompassing the enemy...
A thick gloom swiftly settled upon the Pandava hosts.
All points of the compass were lost in darkness.
Fierce wind began to blow upward, showering dust and gravel.

Birds croaked madly... the very elements seemed disturbed.
The earth shook, scorched by the terrible violent heat of this
weapon.
Elephants burst into flame and ran to and fro in a frenzy...
over a vast area, other animals crumpled to the ground and died.
From all points of the compass the arrows of flame rained
continuously and fiercely.

What do you suppose this implies? Is it merely a coincidence that Hindu mythology describes nuclear war, or is there something in their belief that time is cyclical, and that the world several thousand years ago was more advanced than it is now?

I am skeptical of the translation - I assume you can read the original transcript though?

Even if it was perfectly translated, some of the specificity is lacking...

The original text is in Sanskrit, which I only barely understand (just like how a modern English speaker would only barely understand the Anglo-Saxon language), but it does make some sense and as far as I can tell the translation is accurate.

"Instead of mushroom clouds, the writer describes a perpendicular explosion with its billowing smoke clouds as consecutive openings of giant parasols. There are comments about the contamination of food and people's hair falling out."

Archeologist Francis Taylor says that etchings in some nearby temples he has managed to translate suggest that they prayed to be spared from the great light that was coming to lay ruin to the city. "It's so mid-boggling to imagine that some civilization had nuclear technology before we did. The radioactive ash adds credibility to the ancient Indian records that describe atomic warfare."

I don't think it's impossible that beings from outside our planet had battles here. The Rig Vedas and other ancient texts talk about metallic, flying discs with lights. Even the original texts talking of Moses and Elijah sound like UFO experiences. Christ, Moses followed an object in the sky that blocked the sun (and thus the heat) during the harsh desert days and lit up at night so they could follow it. The object even gave food to Moses... One day Moses climbed to a mountain and entered the object and talked with the lord. What does this mean then? The story of Elijah is equally (if not more) bizarre as this.

Was there a nuclear war? Perhaps. Really though, you have to ask yourself, does it even matter? The mere fact you entertained the possibility is all that is important IMO. By the way, I didn't understand your PM. I'm a white American boy. I only speak English and some Spanish. Sorry :o Much respect to Eastern civilization though. Much respect...

I see. But you understand why I assumed you could, right?

it is my guess that you saw this on a other forum or were told about it by a man who likes the fringe ideas??

this sounds pretty cool lol but i dont see why theyd lie i mean what would they have to gain by doing so??

Its a coincidence. It's impossible humans possessed the technology to manufacture nuclear weapons back then unless you consider we were gifted the technology or weapon(s) from another race, which then becomes quite a sci-fi movie style incident.

It sounds oddly like a meteor also, maybe a fragment? :x

The Mahābhārata, an Ancient Indian epic poem, accurately describes a nuclear blast in ancient India:

That is obviously only one interpretation of the text. Besides, some of the infrastructure required for the manufacture of a nuke would have lasted until today and been discovered, regardless of nuclear war.

Unless, of course, these weapons were given from an alien race.

well it could link to the theory that the pyramids was created by aliens however there is no solid prof

I think that there were alot of developed civilizations before ours and they could of disappeared in a nuclear war.

Where did Atlantis go?

This is an intelligent debate/discussion forum. Backup your argument with reason or do not post at all.

Intreseting, none the less. But If there were Nuclear War in that time period, and the poet's translation states that he could see (If I interpreted it corectly, feel the "explosion") How could one or any being close enough to witness it survive? That's of course, if it worked like modern Nuclear weapons, with Nuclear fallout, Radiation and etc.

Not everyone near a nuclear explosion dies... Not to mention all the shit they ingested when playing with alchemy. There is absolutely no way you can't be sure they were unknowingly ingesting substances that provides a protective effect from radiation poisoning. WE don't even know everything about chemistry/pharmacology.

ROFL on second thoughts this is stupid

some old indian people write about fire and flames and ppl think that aliens came and gave them nukes?

do you always believe every crazy thing written in old books or just the ones that are fringe and cool enough??
