Alright, you know I PMS. Everyone has seen my "bitchy" threads and such, but this isn't one of those. This is a civilized recognition of what has been beaten, bruised, and furtherwise insulted.
User Education. What is it? The Educating of a user, which in this case would be the Sythe user. Why was User Education created? Because Sythe was under a mockery. No one took Sythe.org seriously, and it made your faithfull leader angry. When the words "Get Educated, or Get lost" came into play, User Education was born, and thus was born the idiots who we helped.
I have not been here the longest, nor do I claim to have more knowledge than the fine User Educators before you, I simply state the obvious fact that we are mistreated, misguided, and overall becoming useless thanks to you
. Good job Sythans, you have successfully degraded yourself to idiocy.
That's not what I'm here to talk about though, because even though we are a mockery, we cannot do any thing about it. It gets tiring, day after day, listening to people bash on our work. I would like to see you Sythers write guides that no one can comment, no one can tell you how much they appreciate them, no one can even learn from them because they aren't "important". Well I tell yah something else, I have been around for 4 months with these guys, and I have learned a HELL of a lot. It's been an expierence I will not forget, but only benefit from.
Since Brutus killed Six, there has been a lot of changes in User Education, such as the Rules, and more is to come. We had a plan to sell the guides, which is why they were hidden from you for so long. We were thinking of making money for our work, because it went unappreciated, but all it got us was in the hole. More people paid attention when we were gone, than when we were here, and it hurt. When User Education reopened after Phase 2 was shut down and Unknown departed, we saw very few people even care. Six left, and more applications poured in. Since I've been Head User Educator, there have been quite a few applications, and I LOVE that.
I love having something to do, being asked what is right and wrong, what should be done and how it should be done. I love helping the User Educators who care for User Education in making a better User Education. We have a LOT of work ahead of us, and we will STRIVE for it.
Our Head Head User Educator, Unknown, is home, but not here. He hasn't participated in User Education, and we feel incredibly abandoned. Yes, we can hold up the fort while he's gone, but it's really not a team without a team leader.
A lot of shit went down, and when Six leaked IP's, User Education got quite a lot of attention. He put a bad name on us, and that is one of the reasons we decided that he should go. Either he would be forced to leave by Unknown, or we would have to take different precautions to save a dying section. What happened? I turned on him... Not for his rank, and not to get rid of him, but for personal reasons. They simply worked well together, because I had planned to turn him anyways and TDD was going to take over. (more to come of that).
Right now I am doing most of the moderating while WoW_Sucks decides what he wants to do. User Education is quite hard to work with, because you have to ensure that the maturity level remains steady, and the intellectual level of the forums doesn't drop too drastically. I don't complain about my job, in fact, I love it. It gives me the ability to do what is needed, and work for the better of User Education. But I am still punished, as are all User Educators.
When Six leaked, he messed up everything. The ModCP was locked for the Sectional Moderators of User Education, and we were basically, and still are kinda, shunned. Without Unknown, and without the capability to take matters into our own hands, we could only ask for help, which seems quite pointless. Yes, an educator does sometimes themselves need guidance, but who are they to guide if they are always asking for help from others? Steph, and the other Admins and Globals, we do thank you SO much for all your work in Unknown's absence, we simply feel like he doesn't care anymore, and that spells dismal for User Education's furture.
What can be done about this? The help of you Sythians. RuneScape is truly an "O.K." game, and can be seen as time consuming... But you cannot use it in your furture, for you will learn nothing from it. You must broaden up, and expierence what is for your greater good. I'm not saying apply, but I'm saying take some time to go look through these wonderfull tutorials written out by our STAFF at User Education. You may find something that interests you, something you didn't know, or who fucking knows... something you find wrong and want to make right.
If you feel you're willing to put forth the effort, and try for something cool and new to make User Education better, write up a grand application, and put it in... It doesn't hurt to try, and it helps us because it makes us feel "special"
. It gives us something to do, and with how User Education is right now, we have nothing to do.
That's my spiel for now, but let's go on to my Admin suggestions, and the "notice".
Firstly, we need MORE sections. We're not large enough for what we want to do, and we wish to expand our capabilities and staff. If you would, create a sub section in User Education for Graphic Tutorials, and we will make Graphic Tutorials acceptable on applications.
Secondly, create a section below User Education, and about Help and Requests that says "User Education Guides". Here, the Head User Educators will move the guides with more votes to get regular everyday User comments. This will boost the moral of User Educators, and encourage them to write more guides. Allowing the Users to comment also gives them another "place to get a post count"... but either way, at least we will be getting attention, and if it gets too spammy, I have the delete button. =/.
Thirdly, this one is TOTALLY discussable, but it's been an idea of mine for a while now. We wish to have the programming section merge with User Education. After all, it isthe Educating of a User. Now, the Head User Educators will only have small moderator allowances in that section, because the regular Programming Mods will keep their positions. It's worth the discussion And also the Tech Support forum moved.
Lastly, the Notice.
HEAD USER EDUCATORS ARE STAFF. WE ARE SECTIONAL MODERATORS. Why are we treated so badly? I hate being told I'm not staff, and that I am not a moderator, when I am. Half the sections that are moderated are smaller than User Education, and they are given more rights and allowances than us. It simply irks me that someone would say, after all the hard work put into it by the Head User Educators to keep it clean and civil, we are not staff.
So, my proof:
The list of Moderators:
Notice now, what I have put in RED:
I will not reveal the link, but I assure you it exists. And is very real. In fact, if someone else who knows it wishes to verify it's accuracy, go ahead.
That may not be enough for you, so let's look at some more pictures:
This is a picture of each section's moderators. By the names, I'm sure you can guess which section it is, also by the color of their names:
Wait.. what's this.. Head User Educators are MODERATORS!? WOW! Let's see, EVERYONE on those lists except for the Head User Educator's are capable of seeing the staff lounge.
Even Shredder.
Every person on those lists, except for Head User Educators, have colored names, for some reason Shredder does not, but I do not know that reason.
Every one on that list, except Head User Educators, can use the ModCP.
What's this?:
Yup, that would be the Sythe.org Moderator Control Panel. Can't use it though:
Thanks Six
.
Proof that I can see the ModCP:
Well, that's quite a bit if you ask me. Proves that we are just like any other sectional moderator, and should be treated with the goodies, and not just here to clean up messes, move threads, and educate people who don't really wanna learn.
My proposition? Everything that sectional moderators get: Colored Names, Staff Lounge, Ability to Infract, Ability to use the ModCP, etc...
I've proven my point I think.
GO USER EDUCATION!
