No motivation for life

Recently I have felt empty and have no motivation to do anything.

I picked up my old guitar today as I wanted to learn again and as soon as I started playing I put it down and laid in bed.

I feel as if I have weight problems as well, I eat loads of jumk food and when I notice a growth I will cut it out of my diet and build muscle.

I just want to give up I hate life and see no point in it.

I cant stick to anything for long and this has been the case for my entire life, I started playing football when I was younger and I was very good, then everything went downhill and I ended up substitute for a season and never played again, happened with rugby recently as well I played 4 times a week I was so motivated for it as I had trials for a profesional team and I didn't get in so everything went downhill I started playing poor, I only started playing well again when my coach was encouraging me and helping me get back into everything.

I recently broke up with my girlfriend and feel shit from that.
My old popular friends all ditched me as she turned them all against me.

I have a new crowd who I enjoy being with as they are fun and willing to try new things.
But whenever we do something my old crowd will take the piss.

It seems as if everything is going wrong and I can't deal with it properly, I contemplate suicide almost every night and my family always chuck buckets of stress onto me.

Whenever things are starting to go okay again someone crashes it back down and I feel awful again.

Thanks for your time please give me advice

First and foremost, check this thread for some websites and phone numbers to discuss/get help with depression.

Secondly, without knowing your past and your ambitions, or ambitions you once had, there's really no way to offer much advice.

Coming from someone who has been diagnosed with moderate (and progressing badly to severe) depression, I'd say focus on yourself for a bit. If you're not in college/university (whatever it's called based on your location), give it a go. If you're unemployed - find a job to keep yourself busy, and earn a little money to splurge on satisfying yourself to upkeep a better mood.

Personally, with the way my mind works, I tend to do my best to make others happy, or at least spread a smile when I can, because knowing I'm making even the slightest difference in another person's life gives me a sense of satisfaction and happiness.

You shouldn't give up if you didn't get in once, there's always next time right? That should be your motivation to train and train until you're better than before. It's super hard to get motivation when there's no one around to give it to you, but you have to remember who you're doing things for you and that's yourself.

Don't ever think about giving up though! Harder said than done but with a will there is a way, you shouldn't care what your old crowd has to say as long as YOU'RE having fun, I've always been that way, if they can't accept the way you are and the people you hang around then they're not true friends and true friends are what you need to be around by the sounds of it.

Don't give up hope, screw your bitch girlfriend and everyone who puts you down, life is there for YOU and nobody else and in the end it's up to you how you put yourself. If you don't want to train for Rugby, practice guitar all the time, strive to want to do certain things and achieve your goals and it'll make you feel so much better about life.

Don't ever let someone have such an influence on you that they can ruin your entire attitude. Girlfriends, boyfriends, brothers, sisters, mother, father, etc. No one should have such a responsibility with you that they can determine your mood for the day.

If your ex turned all your friends against you they obviously weren't your friends and weren't people you should surround yourself with. Everyone in your life is replaceable, remember that. I have lots of friends because I am who I am. I don't let anyone have a grip on my life. I don't mold myself into the image others want me to be and neither should you. Embrace being different.

Your ex is replaceable, your friends are replaceable with new ones. Everyone in your life is replaceable. If you feel as if someone is dragging you down just drop them.

Mental stability and happiness comes first. Don't ever let anyone bring you down.

Everyone gets to a point where life is a struggle, talk to people, hang out with friends and family more and keep yourself busy rather than sitting about feeling bad about not doing anything positive. Eating badly can also affect how you feel, if you know you're eating junk, then substitute snacks for fruit etc, walk instead of driving.. small lifestyle changes can make a big difference :)

Dude I've been there. It feels awful, I know. Personally, as weird as that sounds, clean. Clean everything and anything. It makes you feel good, because you're accomplishing something important.

Apparently psychological research has been done on this. I'm no expert, but from what I read it releases endorphins into your brain, making you feel happy.

This.. This is so true what the hell.
Mainly when I'm sick though, I'll feel the urge to clean every germ off the surface of the house and after doing so I feel better, like straight after.
